The jail would house up to 800
inmates and be located just off Route

Nearby residents have plenty of
concerns.

drive faster.

The bill would increase the
current speed limit of 35 to 45 on
roads where the posted speed limit is
55 miles per hour.

On roads where the speed limit is
60 or higher buses could travel 55.

Supporters believe buses pose a
danger to students and other motorists
by driving so slow on major highways.

The measure will now go before
the entire House of Delegates.

heart attack at a hospital near his
home in Northern Virginia.

Pickett's management company says
he had been suffering from health

problems for the past year.

The singer -- known as the
"Wicked Pickett" -- became a star with
his soulful hits in the 1960s.

He was a member of the Rock and

(END SOT) the Vipers are dead last in the UHL in

attendance averaging just over 15
hundred fans a game.

It's a far cry from the hockey
heyday just ten years ago when the
Express routinely attracted 6 to 8
thousand fans for every weekend game.

The core group of loyal hockey
fans who have been on board since
Claude Piche and Pierre Paiement graced
the Civic Center ice in the 70s are
still there - but the casual fan
looking for a night of entertainment
has mysteriously disappeared.

Dixon knew she faced an uphill
battle moving into a town where hockey
had been dead a year and on a financial
respirator before folding.

Many advertisers have stayed
away, as evidenced by the abundance of
empty spots on the dasher boards.

But Dixon insists the Vipers are
far from dead.

In the past couple of weeks -
ticket prices have gone down and
attendance has gone up.

in Roanoke - thinks the fans could use
a little entertainment along with the
