speaking out.
In a tape U- S officials still
haven't authenticated, a voice sounding
like the al- Qaida leader threatens new
attacks in the U-S.
However, at the same time, the
speaker also offers a possible truce--
IF the U-S removes its troops from Iraq
and Afghanistan.

be that of Osama bin Laden warns
that the United States is squarely in
al Qaeda's cross-hairs, that more
attacks are on the way.

But he also said al Qaeda was open to a
conditional truce with
Americans, provided the U-S pull its
troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan.
He even referred to opinion polls in
the United States, saying quote
"the overwhelming majority among you
are in favour of withdrawing the
troops from Iraq."
The voice on the tape said heightened
security measures in the United
States were NOT the reason there have
been no attacks since
9-11....INSTEAD, he said, the 'major
operations' take more time to
prepare.
It's too early to determine the
credibility of the tape, and US
counterterrorism officials are
assessing its authenticity.
But if it IS the voice of Osama bin
Laden, it will be the first audio
tape of the al Qaeda leader to be aired
since December 2004.
The last VIDEOTAPE showing Osama bin
Laden alive was shown in OCTOBER
2004.
It's also impossible to determine when
the tape was made.
But he referred to attacks on European
capitals -- suggesting it was
recorded AFTER the bombings in London
last July.
The timing of the release of the tape
also comes on the heels of
airstrikes in Pakistan that US
intelligence experts maintain were a
major blow to al Qaeda leadership.

Lynchburg.
The body of 36- year- old Trina
Michelle Robertson was discovered in an

Detectives traveled to Lynchburg

Robertson's home computer.
Robertson's body was discovered
December fourth.
Her mother said Robertson had gone

limits, many fans say Victory Stadium
felt more like a prison.

Coach Mark Hanks has another King.
And there's no relation to Jeff.

The sophomore was a Radford Bobcat
until two years ago when he transferred
following his 8th grade year. Although
his younger sister is still in the
Radford School system, Jared is
thriving as a Cougar.
JARED KING/PULASKI COUNTY GUARD:
If the King name sounds familiar, it
should. Jared's mother Brenda won
state titles as head coach of the
Radford girls in 1988 and another in
1990. She still coaches AAU hoops in
the area and is never too far away from
a gym.
BRENDA KING/JARED'S MOM:
Basketball has been therapeutic for the
King family. Back in September Jared's
dad, Danny King passed away after a
bout with cancer. Honoring his memory
has become a top priority for his wife
and son.

Coach Mark Hanks has been there through
it all, watching Jared perservere,
while trying to fill a void in some
small way, He's also carried out Danny
King's wish.

Jared is also a standout baseball
