The criminal case against former
pain doctor Cecil Knox came to a close
today.

February 1, 2002 It began four years ago, when the
D-E-A raided the doctor's office on
second street.
The government said Knox was
involved in a massive OxyContin drug
conspiracy.
The following year he was tried
and acquitted on some of the charges.
The rest ended in a mis-trial with a
hung jury.

smoking marijuana with a patient,
sharing diet pills with another patient
and violating a health-care regulation.
Today Dr. Knox was placed on
probation.

courthouse.
No house arrest. No prison time. No
more criminal proceedings ahead of him.
Cecil Knox will pay the government
$5,000 in restitution. He'll be on
probation for five years. And he
surrended his medical license.

There were some anxious moments for
Knox and his defense team.
Going in, they thought the worst he
could get was one year under house
arrest. Then, the prosecutor asked the
court for a 12-month jail term. The
judge gave him probation.

this time to show his continuing
support for Knox.

murder in Roanoke earlier this week.

VO-NAT Police found 44 year old Donald Seis
dead in his Old Southwest Apartment on
Tuesday morning.
An autopsy shows Seis died of blunt
trauma, therefore police are
investigating this as a homicide.

Police executed a search warrant
last night about a quarter mile away
from the murder scene.
The murder happened here at this
apartment on King George Avenue.
You can still see the candles
left behind from a vigil the other
night.

Donald Seis may have been murdered.

This Week someone had broken into Seis' apartment
more than a week ago and took two tv's.
Then this past Sunday, two women
were seen trying to break into his
apartment.
When confronted, they said Seis
owed them money.
According to a friend, Seis had
an ongoing dispute with one of the
women.
After the murder police went to
the woman's home to interview them.
That's when the officer found
what appeared to be dried blood on a
door.

That prompted police to get a
warrant to search the home further.

saying where they live, because they
have not officially been named as
suspects.
QUESTION: Did police find any evidence
at Donald Seis's apartment?
Jean the search warrant also says
police found a large amount of blood
all over the bedroom and crime scene.
They also took a hammer. It's unclear
if that's the murder weapon, but Seis
did die of blunt trauma.

are wondering what was PREVENTED by a
traffic stop in Narrows last night.
After K-9 Officer S. Dunn stopped a
van for speeding on Route 460, his dog
"alerted" on the vehicle.

a variety of narcotics, two assault
rifles -- one with laser sights,
several other guns and about 15-hundred
rounds of ammunition.
Suspects Jackson Decker and Damien
Weisgerber WISE-gur-bur are facing

Both men are from Portland, Oregon.

in an afternoon house fire.

The fire broke out around 2
o'clock in the basement of a home on
Thomason Road in the Garden City
section of Roanoke.
Neighbors say two men were
working on the propane furnace in the
basement at the time of the fire.
Firefighters say the fire

burned through to the first floor.
There is still no word on the
condition of the two men who were taken
to the hospital.

animal cruelty will have to get rid of
some of his horses.

In December five horses were
taken away from Jack Cassell ka-SELL.
He was later charged with 34
counts of animal cruelty.
Today, Cassell reached a deal
with prosecutors.
Cassell was found guilty of two
counts of animal cruelty and given a
suspended jail sentence.
He also has to give up 22 of his
horses by September, cutting his total
to six.

host national power Oak Hill Academy in
Rocky Mount on the basketball court as
part of their 1 day tournament. Doug
Conklin's club is the night cap in 4
games being playing in the Eagles Gym.
This is a chance for Franklin County
and their big man Lewis Witcher who is
headed to Virginia Tech next season to
play against the best.
