Two miners are missing after a fire
broke out yesterday evening at a mine
about 60 miles southwest of Charleston.

The mine is operated by Massey
Energy subsidiary Aracoma

Coal.

A spokesman say the two miners
disappeared after a fire began on a
conveyor belt.

build a new regional jail.

You can see in these drawings what
the facility would look like.

The jail would house up to 800
inmates and be located just off Route
460 in the Dixie Caverns area.

Nearby residents have plenty of
concerns.

for folks in the southend of town.

was robbed the day before.

Police say Clayborne was sprayed
with a stolen fire extinguisher and
robbed. The owner of the home tells us
she saw two people outside but figured

about 60 miles southwest of Charleston.

The mine is operated by Massey

limit for school buses has passed its
first road block.

Once school bus drivers pick up
students, they're not allowed to exceed
35- miles- an- hour- even on an
interstate highway.

The bill passed unanimously out
of a House committee yesterday. It
would allow buses to travel 45- miles
an hour when the general speed limit is
55.

On roads where the speed limit is
60- or higher buses could travel 55-
miles- per hour.

State Police spoke in favor of
the bill.

week, but Governor Tim Kaine's already

Congressional Democrats
announced yesterday that Kaine will
deliver the Democratic Response to
President Bush's State of the Union
Address on January 31st.

According to a news release,
Governor Kaine will discuss the
Democratic vision that focuses on the
priorities of all Americans.

deadly Sago Mine disaster, the search
continues for two coal miners caught in
a fire at ANOTHER mine..

They were unable to escape after
fire broke out yesterday in a mine
about 60 miles southwest of Charleston.

stolen fire extinguisher and robbed..
