Last Night This one happened in 1-thousand
block of Cambpell Avenue Southwest
shortly before midnight.

Witnesses told a News 7 crew that
they saw three juveniles running away
from the vacant home.

Nobody was injured, but the house
suffered extensive damage.

Fire crews were called to 813 Day
Avenue around four a-m yesterday.

Heavy smoke and flames were
already pouring out of the house when
firefighters got there.

One fireman fell through the
floor and was treated for minor
injuries.

The buildings on either side of
the house also caught fire but
sustained only minor damage.

extreme weather.

in Washington State. This one actually
blocked a entire river, diverting water
into nearby homes. The Army Corps of
engineers is working to re-direct the
river.

VO NAT To south-east Australia, where
firefighters are getting some relief
from the rain. Flames have engulfed
more than a quarter million acres.
While some of the fire has been
contaniid, the flames already killed
60,000 sheep and 500 cattle. More rain
is in the forecast today.

VO NAT To India, where a major
earthquake rattled off the eastern
coast. The 7.7 quake occured in the
Banda Sea about 212 miles beneath the
earth's surface. Analysts say there is
minimal chance of a tsunami because the
quake occurred so deep.

from the vacant home.

Firefighters were called to 813
Day Avenue around four o'clock
yesterday morning.

Heavy smoke and flames were
pouring out of the house when
firefighters got there.

One fireman fell through the
floor and was treated for minor
injuries.

The buildings on either side of
the house also caught fire but
sustained only minor damage.

No one was inside any of the
homes.

Investigators are trying to
figure out what caused the fire.

claimed another life.

A second man who was burned in a
blaze on Thomason Avenue last Friday --
died yesterday.

53-year-old Joseph Beckner was
being treated at the UVA Medical
center.

The other victim, Scott Dooley,
died on Thursday.

Both men were working with a
propane furnace when the fire started.

a walking trail.

He died from his injuries five

instead of driving through the parking
lot, he took a shortcut across the area
where McCloskey was found.

Pierce told police he was driving

his roommate Cameron Johnson, who is
also the general sales manager of Magic
City Ford in Roanoke.

has been charged with having sex with

one of her students.

41-year-old Karen Susan Patton is
facing three sex related charges.

According to
investigators...Patton had contact with

17th.

They also say the two were

messages on the Internet.

Patton is being held in the New
River Valley jail.

its doors.

The Department of Alcoholic
Beverage Control charged the restaurant
with multiple violations ranging from

serving alcohol to customers who were
already intoxicated, to not having

lit.

A statement released by Corned
Beef owners says "While we feel
unfairly targeted in this instance, we
will always strive to abide by the
regulations at each of our ABC licensed
facilities".
