two beatings happened early Saturday
morning and the 19 year-old victim
remains in serious condition at Roanoke
Memorial Hospital.

Lonsdale, a student from Saint Mary's
College in Maryland was

Fraternity House in Blacksburg Saturday
morning.
Earlier there was a disagreement
about Lonsdale's name not being on the
guest list.
Police say after the party
Lonsdale was punched by 19 year-old
Justin Love.
Love was arrested and charged
with malicious wounding.
Blacksburg Police say the number
of these type of incidents has been
increasing lately.

Junior is charged with malicious
wounding after police say he attacked
19 year-old James Landscheft.
Earlier in the evening they
exchanged words about a girl.

sexual relationship. Police say Patton
admitted the handwriting may be hers.

Washington and Lee University has
admitted stealing 38-thousand dollars
worth of postage.
Over a four-year period beginning
in the Spring of 2001, the government
says David Weeks prepared false meter
overages from the postage meter at
W-and-L.
When the postmaster re-imbursed
the school for the overages, Weeks put
the money in his own account.
He has already paid back the
38-grand and is set to be sentenced in
April.

campus. 21% said they should not.
Among women, the percentage opposed to
guns on campus was even higher: 81% of
female voters support a ban on
concealed weapons.

Capitol building.
71% indicated even if you've been
issued a concealed gun permit, you
should not be allowed to carry a gun in

state legislators, as well, though more
people thought that it might be okay
for lawmakers to take a gun to work.
While only 25% of those polled
indicated the average citizen with a
concealed weapons permit should be
allowed to carry a gun in the Capitol,
39% said it would be okay if that
permit holder is a member of the
General Assembly.

crashed into a schoolbus in Lynchburg
this afternoon.

Linkhorne Roads.
Bus Number 99 was travelling down
Cranehill when it broadsided a mini-van

There were no children on the bus

Lynchburg General Hospital with minor
injuries.

Last Thursday J.J. Redick. The senior from
:00 Cave Spring averaged 32.0 points last
week as he singlehandedly demolished
the Commonwealth by whipping both
Virginia Tech and Virginia last week.
Redick scored 24 against Tech
and followed that up with 40 against
UVa. J.J. now has nine consecutive
games with 20 or more points and he has
moved into a tie with former NC State
standout David Thompson for third place
on the all-time ACC Player of the Week
list. He has now won this award 9
times.

will have something else to celebrate.
Wednesday is national signing day
for college football, and J.J.'s
younger brother David will ink
scholarship papers with Marshall.
Before J.J., his older twin
sisters played basketball on
scholarship at Campbell, and the
youngest Redick - Abby - also is on
track to play in college.
That means the Redick family will
be 5 for 5 on putting their children in
college on athletic scholarships.

first ACC win this past weekend over
Wake Forest and the Hokies did it with
just 6 scholarship players and 1
Walk-on. This the result of a
suspension and players leaving the team
to be with their families due to death
or illness. The win may have provided
a bit of joy for Seth Greenberg who has
had to still lead this team through all
the trying times.
