accused of having a sexual relationship
with one of her students is scheduled
to be arraigned today.

VO-NAT 41-year-old Karen Susan Patton

was arrested on Friday and charged with
contributing to a delinquency of a
minor, and two other sexually related
charges.

illegal relationship with her
13-year-old son.

Patton was a teacher at Scott
Memorial Middle School in Wytheville.

Investigators are requesting that
extra school counselors be on hand as
the middle school opens back up today.

inside his home.

Officers discovered the body of a
35 year-old man in a house in the
700-block of Chatham Avenue around five
o'clock yesterday morning.

The body will be sent to the
medical examiner's office for an
autopsy.

The identity of the man has not
been released.

firefighters reponded to a house fire
in the 15-hundred block of 7th street.

There are no reports of injuries.

But, there appears to be
extensive damage to the front of the
house.

attended they party.

After an earlier disagreement

CLAY STREET THE FIGHT HAD ALREADY

BROKEN UP AND THOSE INVOLVED WERE GONE.
IT WASN'T UNTIL ABOUT AN HOUR LATER
THAT THEY RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE
MONTGOMERY REGIONAL HOSPITAL WHERE
DOCTORS WERE FIGHTING TO SAVE THE LIFE
OF JUSTIN LONSDALE.

OQ= Bradberry says 19-year-old Justin

Love was arrested Saturday afternoon.

He's being held in the Montgomery
Regional Jail and charged with
malicious wounding.

Bradberry says investigators are
still looking into whether it was the
punch from Love or the fall to the
ground that injured Lonsdale so
severely, but says that would be a
non-issue if the fight hadn't happened

in the first place.

legislators are pushing to raise the
state's minimum wage.

The rate has stood at five
dollars and 15 cents for years --
matching the current *federal* rate.

Similar legislation has died
quickly in the General Assembly.

This year's effort comes as 18

Columbia have already taken steps to
raise their wages.
