there was a time there where everytime
I visited, it was like a rollercoaster
ride. I didn t know who I was going to
meet that week.



TRACK: RUSTY YATES HOPES THE CASE WON T
GO TO RE-TRIAL AND THAT LAWYERS CAN
STRIKE SOME DEAL. ANDREA YATES HAD BEEN
CONVICTED OF KILLING THREE OF HER FIVE
CHILDREN IN A PREVIOUS TRIAL BUT AN
APPEALS COURT OVERTURNED THAT
CONVICTION CITING FALSE TESTIMONY BY A
PROSECUTION WITNESS.

Yates has admitted to the drownings..
and as in her first trial.. if this
case goes before the judge .. yates
again is pleading not guilty by reason
of insanity.

Police say two-men approached the
clerk's booth in the center of the gas
islands and demanded money.

When she wouldn't cooperate -one
of the men shot her in the face.

She was taken to Roanoke Memorial
Hospital where she's in xx condition

The deputy shot the man in the chest
and the leg...

It all started because the suspect
was a passenger in a corvette that had
crashed into a wall after a high speed

chase with the officer.

The 21 year old driver was
arrested and neither he nor the
passenger had a weapon.

The video was shot by a homeowner
who lives nearby- the airforce officer
is hospitalized and now the FBI is
investigating.

ticket, their second ticket will be 30

The kings of the Valley district
are in the midst of a 73 game winning
streak - the longest in the history of
Virginia basketball in any
classification.

JARRETT HATCHER

Jarrett's dad has won four
quarters so many times - it's beyond
belief. Now 63 years old and in his
38th season at Lee, Hatcher has 779
wins and just 150 losses.

PAUL HATCHER

Selective hearing, but not
selective winning. Hatcher's has won
four state titles, had his home gym
named in his honor and already been
inducted into both the Virginia High
School League and Bridgewater College
Hall of Fames. Oldsters will remember
when he coached LEE in both the
Roanoke Valley and Western districts
and some may even remember him a young
man growing up in Bassett.

PAUL HATCHER.

He's had great players who have
shared that love for the game ever
since he arrived at Lee fresh out of
Bridgewater with no coaching
experience. In his nearly 4 decades at

Lee he's won 29 district titles, sent
numerous players to college and even
cut his own son from the varsity.

So do a lot of his former players
- especially the one's he's been a
father figure to - like current
assistant coach Timmy Crawford.

month.

Roberts has been the chief White
House correspondent for C-B-S.

He was considered a leading

candidate to fill the anchor seat at
