Chants of "M-V-P" rained down
from Madison Square Garden last night,
but it wasn't for the New York Knicks.
Bryant got the salute from New
Yorkers after he concluded one of the
all- time great months in N-B-A
history.
He averaged just over 43 points a
game in the month of January.
He joins Wilt Chamberlain as the
only N-B-A player to average 40 points
in a month, more than once.
Bryant topped off the big month
with 40 points in last night's game
against the Knicks.
The Lakers won 130-to-97.

FSN Seth Greenberg was again
:00 shorthanded-- although he had Deron
Washington back in the starting lineup
after his one- game suspension.
He also had the legendary Lefty
Driesell in the house watching from the
stands at the Cassell.
Washington got the Hokies off to
a good start.
But Georgia tech came from 10
down to lead by five at the half-time
break.
In the second half the Hokies got
another double digit lead, but the
Yellow Jackets again came back and
appeared to win it as time ticked down.
Jermemis Smith tips in the miss
with a half- second to go, but the ref
ruled that he fouled Washington who was
blocking out underneath by going over
his back.

62 The basket was waved off and
Virginia Tech Washington went to the other
63 end--hitting a free throw to give the
Hokies the 63-to-62 win.

Watching the cat sway back and
forth...clinging on for dear life....
Lynn Jennings tells us Crazy ran up
the tree near Gus Nicks Boulevard
Sunday.
At first, Lynn gave the cat time to
find its way to safety.
But when the cat cried to her, she
realized it was probably too scared and
she needed to call for help.
Lynn says she contacted fire
companies and the SPCA, but no one
would help.
That is until Asphlundh Tree Company
heard about Crazy.
The rescue wasn't easy, in fact, it
was downright nerve racking.
Crazy went up the tree......down
the tree.......... even leapt to a
different tree.
But finally, success.
Crazy is now at the Roanoke Valley
SPCA.
