in custody after police discover an
alleged plot to blow up two high
schools.

teenagers, ages 16, fifteen and
thirteen, planned to blow up Albemarle
and Western Albemarle High Schools.

A confidential caller notified
police on Monday of a suspicious
conversation in an online chat room
about the possible violence.

Police seized three computers and
2 shot guns from the teens, but won't
comment on whether they found any
explosive devices.

There is increased police
presence at the schools to make sure
everything is secure.

University is slowly gaining support
among the students.

have now signed on to voice concerns
about police enforcement of alcohol
laws.

Some students say they are being
targeted by police, while officers say
they are just doing their jobs.

The number of alcohol violations
from 20-04 to 20-05 nearly doubled.

Police attribute the increase to
a new grant allowing them to pay for
overtime.

The students eventually plan to
turn the petition over to city council.

determine what caused an Egyptian Ferry
to sink in the Red Sea.

They were more than 14-hundred
passengers on board at the time.

brought to hospitals this morning.
Police says at least 435 people have
been rescued but more than 185 bodies
have also been recovered.

There is still confusion in Egypt
as to the number of survivors.

weather.

Severe weather swept through the
greater New Orleans area yesterday with
at least three confirmed tornadoes.
Some who escaped the brunt of Hurricane
Katrina weren't so lucky this time, as
the wind pushed homes off their
foundation.

VO NAT Another severe winter
thunderstorm pounded much of the Tampa,
Florida area, dumping nearly a dozen
inches of rain.

The sudden downpours flooded
streets, stopped traffic and collapsed
roofs; One at a large retail store, the
other at a community center. No one was
injured in either collapse.

VO NAT And, a North Carolina man had an
unwelcomed surprise this week.

He was watching T-V when a huge
chunck of ice fell through the roof.

Since there were no storms in the
area, officials are guessing it must
have been a peice of ice that fell from
an airplane.

idea that he owed thousands of dollars
in unpaid parking tickets.

When John Chilton heard about the
city's new enforcement, he decided to
check to see how much money he owed.

He thought maybe a few hundred
dollars, but learned it was really more
than two-thousand.

Chilton said he accumulated a lot
of tickets last year outside his office
on Franklin Road.

He said he had intentions of

paying them but later forgot about
them.

Gene Moles and his family
discoverd a weather balloon near his
brother's barn.

At first, he was little alarmed
but once he read the captioning, he
knew what he had found.

Gene admits he wondered what it
was worth.....hoping to get a reward.

But reward or no reward, Gene
tells us it's neat to find something
like this.

But things turned out a little
differently then.

Joseph and Virgie Freeman weren't
taking any chances when they found a
large, unidentified object in their
back yard.

They thought it might be a bomb,
and called the cops.

It took the A-T-F, and several
police departments to determined device
was a weather baloon.

for the cat named Crazy.

Tuesday Earlier in the week, a Roanoke
woman found the cat in her tree, and it
wouldn't come down.

She's the one who gave the cat
its name.

"Crazy" was eventually rescued
from the tree and turned over to Animal
Control.

For the past four days the cat's
been holed up there.

We've been told Crazy has been
showing some signs of aggression.

It's being evaluated by a
behavioral specialist. If its attitude
doesn't improve by Monday, it will not
be adoptable.
