During the difficult days of the 1960s
she stood at her Husband's side. After
his assassination she marched forward
carrying the torch with four children
in tow on the long road to equality.

american president testified to the
lives she changed.

and stroke and was diagnosed with

crash killed family members and
employees of the Hendrick motorsports
race team. and now the National
Transportation Safety Board says
mistakes made by the flight crew are to
blame for that crash.

the Martinsville race when it attempted

to land in heavy fog at the Blue Ridge
Airport in Henry County.

It crashed into Bull Mountain in
Patrick County.

this morning, but the county couldn't
find any rescue squads to bring her to

Biechele took responsibility for his

role in one of the deadliest nightclub
fires in U.S. history.



As victims families looked on , the
former Great White band tour manager

pled guilty to 100 counts of
involuntary manslaughter.

Biechele set off the pyrotechnics that
sparked the 2003 fire inside the

West Warwick, Rhode Island nightclub.

Biechele used the fireworks without a
permit. .



The fire quickly engulfed the
building.many concert goers were unable

to escape. One 100 people died ...and
more than 200 were injured.



Bridge: It was later determined that
the building did not have adequate


exits or functioning sprinkler
system...and was lined with a highly

flamable insulation material
Manslaughter charges are still pending

against the nightclub's two owners.



But the guilty plea is bitter sweet for
many victims' families unhappy

with the bargain struck by prosecutors
last week.

At just 18, Nicholas O'Neill was the
youngest victim of the fire;

This is not about punishment, The only
thing we can get out of this is

to make sure that this doesn't happen
to somebody else.



Had he gone to trial and been
convicted, Biechele could have faced
life

in prison, as each manslaughter charge
carries a maximum term of 30


years. According to the deal , Biechele
will serve no more than ten

years behind bars... hardly enough
time, says these families, for

igniting a fire that took so many
lives.

As if the National Hockey League
didn't have enough problems with the
lingering effects of last year's
lockout and its pitiful TV ratings -
now the league has a gambling
controversy to deal with tonight.

Phoenix Coyotes assistant coach
Rick Tocchet - a former NHL star - is
being accused of taking part in a
gambling operation.

New Jersey authorities say the
former N-H-L forward financed a
nationwide sports gambling ring in
which about a half-dozen current N-H-L
players placed bets, on a a variety of
sports other than hockey.


The head of the inviestigation
says the probe uncovered more than
one-thousand wagers exceeding
one-point-seven million dollars.

And get this - authorities say
Tocchet's partner was a state Trooper
named James Harney

the firing of Jim Wiley as the head
coach of the Roanoke Valley Vipers and
the promotion of Daniel Berthiaume, the
hope is that the change will lead to
more wins.

This is Berthiaume's first chance
to be a head coach in Professional
Hockey. He brings with him a wealth of
playing experience on all levels
including the NHL. But perhaps his
most important asset is that he has
seen the Roanoke Community embrace
Hockey in the Valley from back in his
playing days with the Express.

UVa comes into the game a half a
game in front of Maryland in the ACC

o'clock as North Carolina plays host to
Duke.

Roanoke's own J.J. Redick leads
the ACC in scoring hitting at 28 points
a game. It's the highest average in

30 a game back in the 1974-75 season.
