GRAPHIC=Lamarre An Ohio man has been charged with
supplying the heroin that put W-S-L-S
meteorologist Marc Lamarre in the
hospital last week.

VO-NAT Salem Attorney Greg Phillips
confirmed for News 7 last night that
his client, Gilbert Dennis Hadden, is
accused of providing the drugs that
almost killed Lamarre.
Channel 10 said earlier this week
that Lamarre is no longer with the
station.
And last night his former employer
said "Rumors of Marc's death are
untrue." His current condition is not
known.
Hadden was arrested Friday, the
day after Lamarre was found in a
southwest Roanoke apartment
unresponsive and without a pulse.

filed Sunday.
It does not name Lamarre.
But it says when Roanoke rescue
workers arrived, "The victim had been
immersed in cold water and C-P-R was
being conducted."
Though he had no pulse, the document
says the E-M-S crew was able to
resuscitate him, and took him to the
hospital.

GRAPHIC=Shooting Police in Danville are
investigating a shooting that left one
man injured.
They say a 22 year old man
reported that he was shot in the leg
while walking on a footpath between
Dudley and Hughes Street around 8:30
last night.
The victim also said that the
assailant attempted to rob him before
the shooting.
But police say the evidence at
the scene did not coincide with what
the victim initially told them.

number don't add up in a Henry County
study, which says reversion would be
too expensive for the county.

VO-NAT In a news release,
Martinsville called the study deeply
flawed.
City officials say the
county incorrectly assumed reversion
would create the need for a new,
expensive jail, even though existing
jails in Martinsville could still be
used.
The study also failed to
account for state incentives Henry
County would be eligible for if
Martinsville becomes a town.
Finally, city leaders say
they're skeptical about Henry County's
assertion that all city schools will be
closed if reversion occurs.

lawmaker believes he has a solution to
the problem.

File Tape Senator Emmett Hanger had a bill
in to halt negotiations with Star
Solutions.
Now he's proposing a resolution
directing V-Dot to build additional car
lanes, use federal funds to build non-
toll truck lanes and coordinate a rail
project to get more trucks off the
highway.
Meanwhile, Roanoke Valley
business leaders oppose straying too
far from the Star Solutions project.
A *House* bill asking V- Dot to
put the brakes on the Star Solutions
project was killed earlier this week.

County is shocked by the recent murder
of one of its own.

79 year-old Susan Sprinkle Clark
was found dead inside her home along
Double Cabin Road early Tuesday
morning.
Investigators allege her 46
year-old daughter ...Rene Loving Turman
was the killer.
Police say Sprinkle Clark died
from apparent blunt force injuries to
her head.
Neighbors say they never saw this
coming.
Turman is being held without bond
at the New River Valley Jail.
