She was a former professional
dancer who came to Blacksburg back in
19-91 to run a cultural center.

Appomattox County mother was found
murdered, police have charged a man
with the crime.

Sept. 27th, 2005 The body of Dorothy Harris was
discovered last September inside her
home on Oakville Road.

Authorities say she had been shot
to death.

The investigation continued until
early this morning when police arrested
35-year-old Thomas Douglas Groves of
Bedford and charged him with Harris's
murder.

They say Groves is the father of
one of Harris's five children and had
been a suspect for some time.

He was arrested when he showed up
at the murder scene early this morning.

knife when he robbed the Stop-In on

blame for the latest Baptist church
fire in Alabama.

entering today's time trials.

has touted the significant changes made

provisional pole for a while. Labonte

miles an hour to grab the top spot.
Burton was in position for his first
pole since 2000.

He had to sweat out Jeff Gordon's
lap. Gordon went fast enough for the
outside of row one. He's won 4 of the
last 7 restrictor plate races, but
Burton will lead the pack to the green
flag next Sunday.

long for things to get dicey. Brian
Vickers and Ryan Newman tangled on the
backstretch to bring out the early
cautiion flag.

Jeff Gordon saw his day come to a
premature end when the 24 machine blew
up midway thru the race.

In the end, it was a great day to
be from Virginia. Denny Hamlin, the

Chesterfield native, got some help from

Gibbs teammate, Tony Stewart. The
rookie held off Dale Earnhardt, Junior
