seven inches of snow in some areas
around here.
And as result, many people spent
the day cleaning up.

clear, and the sun was able to break
through for most of the day and start

Ranch in south Texas.
The ranch owner says the
78-year-old victim is "alert and doing
fine."
The ranch owner says the vice
president accidentally sprayed attorney
Harry Whittington with shotgun pellets
while trying to shoot a bird.
Cheney's spokeswoman says the
vice president was with Whittington and
his wife at the hospital this
afternoon.

Appomattox County mother was found
murdered, police have charged a man
with the crime.

Sept. 27th, 2005 The body of Dorothy Harris was
discovered last September inside her
home on Oakville Road.
Authorities say she had been shot
to death.
The investigation continued until
early this morning when police arrested
35-year-old Thomas Douglas Groves of
Bedford and charged him with Harris's
murder.
They say Groves is the father of
one of Harris's five children and had
been a suspect for some time.
He was arrested when he showed up
at the murder scene early this morning.

this morning after attempting to rob
two convenience stores.

Police say Garet Michael
Fitzgerald was armed with a hunting
knife when he robbed the Stop-In on
Memorial Avenue AND the Community
Grocery store on Elm Avenue.
Fitzgerald was taken into custody

The owner of Community Grocery
says he was just glad it was him
working today and not his wife.

tomorrow.

blame for the latest Baptist church
fire in Alabama.

Chicago for four inmates who escaped
from jail.

special unit for inmates with
disciplinary problems.
Officials say a total of six
inmates broke out by taking advantage
of short staffing.
Police say they caught two of the

prison.

was a blustery day in Daytona as 58
drivers laid the hammer down this
afternoon in an effort to secure a spot
on the front row for next week's Great
American Race.

SPEED Dale Earnhardt, Jr. was slow this

Bobby Labonte held the
provisional pole for a while. Labonte

South Boston's Jeff Burton turned
in a lap at 188.87 miles an hour to
grab the top spot. Burton was in
position for just his third career
pole.
He had to sweat out Jeff Gordon's
lap. Gordon went fast enough for the

last 7 restrictor plate races, but
Burton will lead the pack to the green
