While 78-year-old Harry Whittington

"We have to break this habit of the
administration of closed government

without the openness that's healthy for
a democracy."

And published reports say even
Republicans are quote "mystified that

Cheney has not spoken up"....instead
issuing written statements and

leaving White House Press Secretary
Scott McClellan to field questions.

(standup bridge)

Here in Texas, politics take a backseat
to the medical condition of

Harry Whittington. He has a tiny
birdshot pellet like this one...lodged

in his heart. Doctors say its not
blocking any blood flow, but they are

watching him very closely.

(SOT/DR. DAVID BLANCHARD, DIRECTOR

EMERGENCY SERVICES 13:28:42)

"The bb basically has set up
irritability and inflammatory changes
an

area of the heart, which has led to the
ischemia, or the relative lack

of blood flow to that area, hence the
silent or minor heart attack."

All this came just when it seemed
Whittington's wounds were

superficial....even though he may have
up to 200 pellets still lodged in

his face, neck and upper chest.

Out of respect for the Vice President,
Whittington has not commented on

the accident. As for Mister
Cheney...he could possibly address the

issue on Friday during a scheduled
speech in Wyoming....if not sooner.

how long it would take Redick to break

J.J. does a great job creating
space to shoot -

He hits a three to tie Staples with
413 three- pointers.

Then with just under 8 minutes to
play in the first half, he passed
Curtis with the three on the other side
of the court. *CG final Wake Forest
