when his small plane crashed on
Interstate 81 in Augusta County.

Authorities say shortly after 11 last

night, the Cessna 182 clipped a
high-tension line and crashed about a
mile from Shenandoah Valley Regional
Airport.

This Morning It crashed near the Mount Sidney
interstate rest stop, striking a
tractor

trailer that was hauling cars before it
hit the ground.

A witness says he saw the plane
circle low three times, then

crash.

It hit the shoulder of the Interstate
and burst into flames.

The pilot was identified as
30-year-old Benjamin Randolph Hickin of
Spottswood.

No one else was on board.

The F-A-A is investigating.

after a shooting early this morning in
Bedford.

block of East Franklin Street just
after midnight.

They found 26-year-old Nathaniel
Lee of Bedford with minor gunshot
wounds to his arm and side.

Lee was treated at the hospital
and released.

shooting was a result of an ongoing

School officials say two male
students were engaged in horseplay

at Stacy Residence Hall around 1:20
this morning, when they fell

through a third-story window and landed

Other students called 9-1-1, but
both victims were unconscious

when rescue crews arrived.

U-N-C Hospitals identified the dead

student as Keith Smith of

Greensboro.

The injured student is identified
as Tyler Downey of Asheville.
