bill that adds cigarette "remnants" to
the list of items that are illegal to
throw out of a car.

Anyone caught doing so could face
a fine of 250- to 25- hundred bucks and
up to a year in jail.

Roanoke Delegate William Fralin

clear to citizens, police and judges
that cigarette butts are litter.

of a New River Valley Pain doctor this
week.

According to a warrant in federal
court, agents searched Dr. Linda
Cheek's practice in Dublin on Tuesday.


The search was about medicare and
medicaid fraud.

Investigators allege
prescriptions were written while Dr.
Cheek was not present and in some cases
NOT even in the country.


They also say two nurse
practitioners were using Dr. Cheek's
medicare provider number.

In a statement, Cheek says she
believes the real agenda is to shut
down her pain management practice.

Charlene Fields was injured in a
car accident and takes pain medication
for her back. She's been a patient of
Dr. Cheek since June.

grandmother was being treated for
depression at the time of the murder.

Christopher Sterling Jamison was
in court today, as attorneys considered
who should evaluate his mental state-
-both now and at the time of the crime
last November.

County detectives say Jamison
admitted he took the biggest knife he
could find and stabbed the woman who

raised him... first in the back, then
15 times in the chest.

He could not exactly explain why,
except to say he'd "kind of hated her"
his whole life.

Chris Jamison's lawyer says the
boy had been under the care and
treatment of a psychologist for
depression for four months before the
murder.

She wants to know whether he's
mentally ill.

Jamison himself had just two
words for the judge during the
six-minute hearing.

Tammy Skinner purposely ended her
pregnancy by shooting herself in the
stomach.


She then panicked and called 911.

The remorseful Skinner cites
mental stress and abuse during the

inducing an abortion and a filing a
false police report, and if convicted,
could face up to ten years in prison.

what happened to the pilot who died in
a plane crash in Augusta County last
week.

Last Friday They say 30-year-old Benjamin
Hickin was trying to buzz a trucker he
knew on Interstate 81.

A Waynesboro newspaper says the
pilot passed at a very low altitude so
his friend could see him.

In a preliminary report, Federal
investigators say Hickin was talking
with the trucker on a cell phone.

Hickin then hit a power line and
crashed.

The plane then burst into flames
on the shoulder of 81.

approaching in Blacksburg, but one of
the Hokies' top talents who is expected
to be a major contributor next season
was arrested Wednesday night.

GRAPHIC=IKE WHITAKER Ike Whitaker, who was redshirted


this past season has been charged with
the purchase and possession of alcohol.

Whitaker won't even turn 19 until
this coming June.

He has a date in Montgomery
County General district court on March
23rd to answer the misdemeanor charge.

Whitaker was expected to
challenge for the starting quarterback
position this spring for the Hokies,
but this afternoon he was suspended
indefinitely by head coach Frank
Beamer.
