GRAPHIC=Brush Fire Dozens of firefighters from
several departments are battling a
large brush fire in the Blue Ridge area
of Bedford County.
It's been going on for several
hours.
And fire officials say the windy
conditions are making it more difficult
to get the fire under control.

almost destroyed a home.
The fire was raging when crews
arrived on the scene off of Burton's
Crossing in *Eggelston* -- overlooking
the New River.
Everyone inside the home got out
safely.
Fire officials are still
gathering information about the cause
and total damage of the fire.

today that U-S Airways cannot collect
insurance for lost business after
Nine-Eleven.

government after the attacks -- to help
stabilize the airline industry.
The Supreme Court said that
amount had to be deducted from U-S
Airways' insurance claim.
But, since the maximum liability

the court ruled that the insurance
company owes nothing.
The unanimous decision reversed a
previous ruling by a lower court.

are very unpopular in Pakistan, which

year's pageant better than ever.

The second event benefiting the MDA was
the annual MDA car show at the Roanoke
Civic Center.
Hundreds of car lovers got a chance to
see all kinds of cars.
This is the 26th year the Roanoke
Valley Charity Car Show Committee has
hosted the event.
All of the proceeds go to the Muscular
Dystrophy Association.
There's still time to check out the
cars.
The event is open until ten tonight.
It will also be open tomorrow morning
at ten.

was all worth it for one local charity.

About 70 participants filled up
the gym inside the Roanoke Athletic
Club for the 22nd annual Fitness
Challenge.
Every two years the RAC chooses a
new charity to donate the money raised
from the event, and this year the Child
Health Investment Partnership was given
27,000 dollars.

title this weekend in basketball.
The Roanoke Catholic Celtics,
coached by Joe Gaither, beat Crozet's
Miller School for the state division
two private school championship this
afternoon 68-to-62.
Catholic has now won five state
titles in the last 7 years. The
