the man now facing a criminal charge
for starting the fire.

spreading with a garden hose.
But the fire raced up the mountain
behind his home on Quarry Road.
Ham told us yesterday that he
dumped some ashes behind a shed on his
property Saturday morning.
Apparently a live spark blew into
the woods.

double-homicide.

balanced, it has been renewed.

today when a majority of House
Republicans voted not to confirm the
governor's choice for Secretary of the
Commonwealth.
Republicans fear former union
president Danny LeBlanc (le- BLAHNK')
would try and repeal Virginia's right-
to- work law and restore voting rights
to violent felons.
Some House Democrats say they too
believe some of LeBlanc's statements
have been "over the top," but don't
believe his union card should deny him
a seat at the governor's table.
The move to reject LeBlanc harmed
an already strained relationship

through his camera work as a

died of Lung Cancer last night at the
age of 44.

Though she wasn't a smoker, she
had been battling lung cancer for about

son-- who now has lost both his parents

everyday to the possiblity of seeing
life from behind bars.

VO-NAT But a Judge has ruled if former
Virginia Tech quarterback Marcus Vick
can walk a straight line, he won't go
to jail.
Vick was accused of pulling a gun on
three people in a restaurant parking
lot, but the prosecutor said
conflicting evidence lead to a plea
agreement.
Vick pled guilty late yesterday to
disorderly conduct.
Originally, Vick faced up to three
years in jail, but the judge sentenced
Vick to six months and a 500-dollar
fine.
All the jail time was suspended on
the condition he stays out of trouble
for one year.
