The man responsible for starting that
huge brush fire in Bedford County has
been charged with a crime.

Saturday Dennis Ham tried to stop it from
spreading with a garden hose.
But the fire raced up the mountain
behind his home on Quarry Road.
So far it has burned about 1-thousand
acres.
Ham told us yesterday that he dumped
some ashes behind a shed on his
property Saturday morning.
Apparently a live spark blew into the
woods.

misdemeanor of "carelessly damaging
property by fire."
It does *not* involve jail time, but
does carry a *fine* of up to
250-dollars.

jail.

three people in a restaurant parking
lot, but the prosecutor said
conflicting evidence lead to a plea
agreement.
Vick pled guilty late yesterday to
disorderly conduct.
Originally, Vick faced up to three
years in jail, but the judge sentenced
Vick to six months and a 500-dollar
fine.
All the jail time was suspended on
the condition he stays out of trouble
for one year.

next 10 months in jail.

Breaking news now, Roanoke police
have just announced the arrest of a
third person in the murders of two
women at Tinker Manor apartments.
A 17-year-old from Roanoke has
been charged with murder and attempted
robbery.
He was charged late today in the
murders of Deborah Vaughn and Brenda
Wright last month.
A search warrant filed soon after
the killings had indicated police
considered the teenager a suspect.

reporters in San Francisco says that
Barry Bonds not only used steroids, but
used a large number of them.
The book, entitled "Game of
Shadows," details widespread use of
drugs including steroids and human
growth hormone and it says that Bonds
used the stuff for at least five years
beginning in 1998.
