New research shows that the powerful
Statin Crestor not only drastically
lowered cholesterol levels by more than
50 percent.. it may actually reverse
heart disease.

(vo)

The study funded by the drug's maker
showed high doses of Crestor removed
plaque from the coronary arteries.

Arterial plaque can lead to heart
attacks and strokes.. and begins
building-up early in life.

Cardiologists say a drug that can get

rid of even small amounts is like
turning back the clock.. but there is
concern high doses could cause more
problems over the long term.

(wipevo)

Treating people before they reach high
blood pressure might delay the onset of
hypertension.

In a new study doctors gave medication
to people nearing the condition.

Those patients had a much greater
chance of keeping their blood pressure
at healthy levels.

Hypertension greatly increases the risk
of heart failure, stroke and heart
attacks.

(wipevo)

Scientists say one way to keep weight
down is to cut out the meat.

In a study of the eating habits of more
than 22-thousand people over five
years.. all subjects put on a few
pounds.. but meat eaters who switched
to a vegetarian or vegan diet gained
the least.

The findings run contrary to some
popular diets that emphasize low carbs
and high protein.

Researchers also found exercise was

another important factor in controlling
weight.

Those are some of this week s top
health stories.

COMPLETELY DIFFERENT POINTS OF VIEW.
"What did my child, I have to use the

of something that your child died for,
or was killed for, then your child has
died in vain." "My son, not only my son
but all of those heroes that fell, all

in vain, they died honorably."
WROBLEWKSI, A HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC

FERVENTLY BELIEVES THE WAR IN IRAQ IS
NECESSARY. "It's a war against
terrorism. It's a war that if we're not

in it and we're not on the offensive,
we will be fighting it here on our
shores. I think 9/11 proved that." SUE

ACTIVELY PROTESTED THAT PREMISE SINCE
HER SON WAS KILLED WHILE LEADING A
SEARCH FOR IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE

UNDER-TRAINED AND UNDER-EQUIPPED TO DO.
"I asked for my son's helmet because

How the heck did a piece of shrapnel
get up and under my son's helmet and
blow the back of his head off. Somebody
explain that one to me." NIEDERER SAYS
HER SON TOLD HER HE'D LOST CONFIDENCE
IN THE US MISSION IN IRAQ BUT WAS
COMMITTED TO LEADING HIS PLATOON. NOW,
SHE SAYS HE IS LEADING HER.. "I will
continue speaking, marching, being
arrested - whatever it takes to make
and provide for the young men and women
to come home and have a safe place when
they do come home. Until my son tells
me to stop, I'm not stopping." JOHN
WROBLEWSKI DOES NOT CONSIDER HIMSELF A
PRO-WAR ACTIVIST. BUT LAST FALL, HE
SPOKE AT A RALLY TO HONOR MILITARY

FAMILIES. NATSOUND: "Thank you,
President Bush." AND LAST SUMMER,
WROBLEWSKI TRAVELED TO CRAWFORD, TEXAS
TO CONFRONT CINDY SHEEHAN, WHO'D ALSO
LOST HER SON IN IRAQ AND WAS PROTESTING
THE WAR OUTSIDE PRESIDENT BUSH'S RANCH.
"I understand Cindy Sheehan. I feel her
loss. But I think there's a line that's
drawn and I think at one point in time
she crossed that line." LIEUTENANT JT
WROBLEWSKI DIED IN A FIRE FIGHT OUTSIDE
RAMADI. BUT HIS FATHER VISITS WITH HIM
