DREW LEVINSON/NEW YORK: AND FINALLY THE
DOGGED PURSUIT PAID OFF, IT ALL ENDED
RIGHT HERE IN THE WILDERNESS OF
MANHATTAN ABOUT 1O O CLOCK.
A keen-eyed cop shot the one-year-old
male at close range. Alan and Doreen
Beers-here on vacation from Ireland
captured the moment.
ALAN BEERS/TOURIST: " DIDN T EXPECT
THIS FOR HOLIDAY DID YOU? DID NOT, DID
NOT, HA, HA, IT WAS REALLY SMASHING.
Kelly Dunn was concerned about her dog
Lexie-but since she is now heading home
to Australia she fears another beast.
KELLY DUNN/TOURIST: "TO WORRY ABOUT THE
DINGOS RATHER THAN THE COYOTES SO SHE
HAS GOT TO GET USED TO IT YOU KNOW.IT S
A TOUGH WORLD OUT THERE.
How the little beast found his way onto
the island is anyone s guess though
Coyotes are good swimmers.
Now that the accidental tourist s
adventure is over---Hal s being sent up
the river-to a wild life preserve. The
city slicker now must enjoy the country
life. Drew Levinson, CBS News, New
York.
