Monday The tests were done last week at
Dudley Elementary, after some students
became sick.
School officials wanted to see if
their illnesses were related to the
recent application of the pesticide,
malathion (mala- THIGH-on).
The school says it was NOT aware
the pesticide was being used,
especially during school hours.
Officials plan to release the
results to parents today.

Mark Heath has been on the job
now for about a month.
Heath was formerly the economic
development director for a city near
Charlotte, but prior to that, he worked
in similar positions in both Roanoke
and Danville.
Heath says his goal is to promote
ALL of the area's strengths, not just
racing.
That includes tourism and the
idea of a new college in Southside.

E-M-S workers and ambulances were
on the scene to assist in what looked
to be a serious accident.
Life guard 10 was even flown in.
But it wasn't a real emergency,
it was just practice.
Carilion workers were practicing
for the upcoming race at Martinsville.
They recently received the E-M-S
contract from the Martinsville Speedway
to cover all the races there for the
next three years.
They'll be responsible for
getting to, and assisting drivers after
an accident.
They'll manage a triage unit
outside the track, and have life guard
10 on standby in case of an emergency.
