been too much said about the negative,
and not nearly enough on the positive.

NO SUPER USA poll shows 21 per cent of Roanoke
County adults asked say the schools are
getting better, more than a quarter say
worse, and nearly a half say they're
about the same.
When asked whether they approve of the
job Linda Weber is doing as
superintendent, nearly half say they
disapprove, twenty two percent say they
approve, and nearly a third told us
they're not sure.

When it comes to the Roanoke County
school system, you can't argue with the
numbers.
Currently, all the county's schools
are accredited and they all made
adequate yearly progress under No Child
Left Behind.
The school system is also the first
in Virginia to receive district
accreditation from the Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools.

floors at the new Hidden Valley High
School and helping teachers get ready

Elementary.
For that reason, these educators say
it's hard to believe Linda Weber is
intimidating like some have claimed.

in the Texas panhandle.

The fires were 90 percent

you....Pilots for the airline held what
they called a "practice strike" today.

Atlanta airport to show their anger
with Delta's effort to throw out their
contract.
The airline wants pilots to accept
300-million dollars in salary and
benefit cuts.
Delta filed for bankruptcy protection
six months ago and says a strike would
put it out of business.
Delta is one of the main carriers to
our region. It uses commuter flights to
connect Roanoke and Lynchburg with its
main operations in Atlanta and
Cincinnati.

Journalist and American captive, Jill
Carroll, is once again free.

VO-NAT Caroll was kidnapped almost three
months ago while reporting on a story.
She has been in Iraq the past three
years and speaks Arabic, two things
some believe helped lead to her
release.
In an interview with Baghdad media,
Carroll said she was in good health,
was fed, never beaten and still doesn't
understand why she was kidnapped.
Her employer, the Christian Science
Monitor, has spent the past three
months putting out public service
announcements and doing stories, trying
to push for this day to come.

raising money for the Victory Junction
Gang Camp for kids down in North
Carolina.

The landowner had been concerned
