GRAPHIC=Linda Weber Supporters of Roanoke County School

Superintendent Linda Weber say there's
been too much said about the negative,
and not nearly enough on the positive.

ENG#=1 VO-NAT

VO-NAT They spoke on the day a News-7/Survey

NO SUPER USA poll shows 21 percent of Roanoke
County adults asked say the schools are
getting better.

More than a quarter say worse, and
nearly a half say they're about the
same.

When asked whether they approve of the
job Linda Weber is doing as
superintendent, nearly half say they
disapprove, twenty two percent say they
approve, and nearly a third told us
they're not sure.

stories.

ENG#1 The results of a News 7/Survey USA poll

show that 75-percent of Roanoke County
residents have a problem with school
superintendent Linda Weber's paid leave
of absence. When asked about her
performance as superintendent, nearly
half said they disapprove. Weber's
supporters say those poll numbers don't
tell the whole story.

ENG#2 In Roanoke, school board members

are preparing to slice almost seven
million dollars from next year's
spending plan. They're also planning
to make the case for more funding.

Despite the cuts in their proposed
budget, school board members say raises
for school employees will remain a

priority.

ENG#3 North Carolina now has its own lottery

and that could be unlucky for some
Virginia businesses near the state
line. The state expects a 10 per cent
loss in lottery business.
