damage to downtown Indianapolis.

The wind was strong enough to blow
out windows on about 10 floors of a
bank building.

Glass rained down on the street

In a matter of seconds, Rosemary
McQuarters lost her home and just about

everything in it.

"it's just devastating, everything is
gone....if I hadn't looked out the

window and seen it coming we might not
be here today."

The tornado that touched down in Dyer
County..was one of a series of

powerful storms that cut a path of
destruction across eight Midwestern

states over the weekend. At least 23
deaths are confirmed and that

number could go up as search crews pick
through the rubble.

Most of the fatalities were in
northwest Tennessee where tornadoes

struck five counties. One resident
says he could barely recognize

what's left of a brick church.

"I can't get over all the damage that's
done. I saw it coming through

last night and that thing was just
huge."

The scene is much the same in Fairview
Heights, Illinois. One person

was killed when this clothing store
collapsed. Rescuers had to dig the

victims out by hand.

thank god there was a hole."

Downtown Indianapolis also got a
helping of the nasty weather.....with

powerful winds blowing out dozens of
windows of a bank office tower.

It could take days for all the damage
to be assessedAND one thing is

those estimates are sure to be

in Iraq.

Officials say the four died
yesterday from "hostile fire," just
west of Baghdad.

Bedford County.

at this home on Irene Drive -- in
between Vinton and Stewartsville.

No one was home at the time --
and no one was hurt.

One end of the house was
destroyed.

The fire was so intense, it

has cited the city of Lynchburg for a
violation in connection with a chlorine
leak last spring.

The chlorine spill at the city's
wastewater treatment plant in May, 2005
was attributed to operator error.

The E-P-A says the city did not
contact a state agency in the
prescribed time and there was no
follow-up with another agency.

City officials have 30 days to
respond to the complaint or request a
hearing to challenge it.

hurt after an accident in Floyd County.

It happened around 3:30 yesterday
afternoon on Route 58 near the Patrick
County line.

Authorities say 62-year-old
Charles Higgins' vehicle ran off the
side of the road.

Higgins died at the scene.

Two six-year-old twin boys inside
the vehicle were hurt, one of them
seriously.

Manspile, Senior near his home on Bohon
Hollow Road around noon Saturday.

They later found his body over an

spots.

city in the early 20th century.

In 1959, the railway merged with

This tent originated out of New
York, and follows race fans around the
country.

But there are some local
entrepreneurs.

Take 76-year-old Martinsville

resident Virginia Blankenship.

She sews and sells her OWN
ORIGINAL race paraphernalia.

race.

As fans near the speedway, they
run into the next race day
entrepreneur.

Parking quickly becomes a
commodity the closer you are to the
speedway, but not everyone is in it to
fill their own pockets.

The Ridgeway Volunteer Fire
Department has used this make shift
parking lot for the last nine years to
raise money, and the volunteers bring
in a couple of thousand dollars every
time NASCAR is in town.

Today scientists in Egypt began
restoring the Great Sphinx of Giza.

They're hoping to fix what they
call previous mistakes in the
restoration of the monument.

Officials say the Sphinx suffered
the worst damage when workers used
cement to restore the statue in the
'80s.
