GRAPHIC=Art Museum Construction is set to start in a



matter of weeks on a new museum that
promises to radically alter the
appearance of downtown Roanoke.

VO-NAT The Art Museum of Western


Virginia today declared that plans for
the building are moving forward.

It'll be built on Salem Avenue
near Williamson Road, not far from the
Wachovia Tower, across the tracks from
the O. Winston Link Museum and Hotel
Roanoke.

Construction alone will cost more
than 40 million dollars, bringing the
current total project estimate to
66-million.

materials are being blamed for the
increase.



But executive director Georganne

Bingham say the community has stepped
up to the plate and donated more money.
So far -the museum has raised 46 of

Virginia is being accused of trying to
cover up a woman's death.

A federal grand jury today
indicted 35-year-old Mark Jason Parris
of Glade Springs in an alleged drug
conspiracy and obstruction of justice.

The government says Parris
provided drugs to 28-year-old Stacy
McCray, then disposed of her body to
cover up the fact that his drugs were
in her body.

Her skeletal remains were
found in the Jefferson National Forest
near Chilhowie in 2002.

Parris is NOT charged with

killing her.

late this afternoon.

Hight is already serving a nearly
four year prison sentence for killing
44 year old Joyce Marie Sirry and her 6

with his car.

robbing convenience store clerks at
gunpoint.

property.

Redistricting and Reclassification
committee met today in Charlottesville
to hear appeals from schools all around
the state concerning their athletic
futures.

When the smoke cleared, our end
of the state was affected, but not as
much as originally feared.

The Committee decided to move the
six team River Ridge District to Region
Four beginning with the 2007-and 2008
school year.

Alleghany was expected to join
the Valley District and leave the Blue
Ridge but that will not happen, the
Mountaineers are staying put.

As for the Blue Ridge as a whole.
They will be staying as a 4-team
district and remain in Region 3 along
with the Seminole and will have the

Valley District added to their Region.

Blue Ridge after next season and return
to Group Three A as a member of the
Western Valley district. Again, these
changes take place starting in August

in the Top 25. This is the second time
this year that the Hokies have been

ranked and the second time ever during
the Regular Season. Tech is number 24
and travels to Maryland this weekend
