day, and they kept firefighters in our
area very busy today.

The owners smelled the smoke and
called for help.
Apparently the fire started in a
storage area under a sunroom.
People working nearby say the

difficult for firefighters at a house
fire near Bedford this afternoon.

Neighbors spotted smoke and flames
coming from the back of this home on
Jopling Road at lunch time.
The first crews got there in just a
few minutes, but the house was already
engulfed in flames.
It took them more than half an
hour to bring the fire under control.
Authorities say the fire started
near the back deck, but aren't sure
about the cause.
No one was home.

The Freshman is in the Corp of
Cadets and missed two days of morning
muster, prompting the search.

Bell from Dublin all the way to
Arizona.
But he was found on trail in
Grayson County.

Investigators spent the last two
days following up on dozens of leads.
They took Bell's picture to his
dormroom and to bustops.
They eventually came across this
surveillance video from an ATM machine
in downtown Blacksburg.
Bell is seen withdrawing money
and then he walks away.
Police soon decided Bell left of
his own free will.
A viewer tip led Tech police to
contact the Grayson County Sheriff's
office.

rezoning request of 210 acres.

best protection against mumps is to get

We do have to point out -- some of
the people in Iowa who contracted
mumps, did have at least one dose of
the vaccine.
But health officials say it's still
the best protection available and we
have to remember it's not 100-percent
effective.

the vaccine as a child, you can ask
your doctor about taking a blood test
to see if you are immune to mumps.
The health departments does offer the

Gale is the largest private employer in
the City of Salem and the Center's
President and CEO says the partnership
exemplifies his companies commitment to
the citizens of Salem.
Selling the naming rights has
been a trend in sports for more than a
decade, but this new name is a mouthful
Lewis-Gale Medical Center Field at

Sean Singletary, the first team
all-ACC guard at UVA has had successful
hip surgery.
The rising junior had the medical
procedure done to relieve discomfort he
was experiencing in his hip. The
arthroscopic surgery took place on
March 30.
He'll now spend the remainder of
the spring rehabilitating from the
procedure and will have limited
activity involving the team�s
off-season program. He is expected to
participate without restrictions later
this summer.
