County deputy that re-united a missing
Virginia Tech student with his family.

Chief Deputy J-B Johnson first
saw Christopher Bell on Tuesday near
the point where the Appalachian Trail
crosses route 603.
After catching a news report on
the disappearance, Johnson returned to
the Troutdale area yesterday and found
Bell walking along the road.

the Head Coach of the Hidden Valley
Girls Basketball team in his first
season on the bench. 2 seasons later
he led the Titans to the State
Championship Game. As it turns out
that will be the final game that
Buchanan coaches for the Titans. He
has decided to step down as Head Coach,
but remain as a teacher at the school.
The decision simply came down to
family.

March Madness. It also made Jim
Larranaga a hot commodity.

to speak with the Patriots head coach.
But Larranaga said no thanks. Didn't
even want to interview with the Big
East Club. The former U-V-A
assistant coach has been at George
Mason for 9 seasons and is under

he stands to get a raise one way or
another. Either a new contract in
Fairfax or a new job that pony's up
some nice cash. George Mason was 27

field both Friday and Saturday. The
Wahoos are in need of a new quarterback
with the departure of Marques Hagans.
But whoever ends up behind center for
the first game will have a number of
talented targets to get the ball too.

teed off this morning with no weather
problems what-so-ever. The
overwhelming favorite headed into the
season's first major is Tiger Woods.
But the 4-time Green Jacket winner is
dealing with the knowledge that his
father's health is not well.

USA Tiger teed off at a little before
10:30 and his drive for five got off to
an OK start. It did include his second
shot on the Par 4, 14th. How about
jar me for the Eagle. But he shot just
Even par in Round 1.
The man who went out early and
shot a very nice round was Vijay Singh.
He made it look easy and shot a 67
which is 5-under par is your leader by
1.
Phil Mickelson had a later tee
time and it proved to be a a pretty
good round for lefty who kept it
together for most of the day. He is at
2 under par through 17 holes and is 3
behind the leader Singh.

African-American art exhibit this
morning in Roanoke.

The Hewitt Collection, normally
housed in Charlotte officially went on
display today at the Art Museum.
The collection combines more than
50 works by twenty artists and
showcases styles from abstract to
portrait work.
Museum officials hope the new
exhibit will not only attract many
local art patrons, but will draw in a
national crowd as well.
The collection is housed in the
