GRAPHIC=Hold Danville police say a man was


stabbed in an altercation last night.

Officers were called to the
Purdam Woods Apartment Complex on
Richmond Boulevard around 7:30.

Upon arrival, they found a 26
year old man with stab wounds.

The victim was taken to Danville
Regional Medical Center where he was
treated and released.

Police have arrested 32 year old
Timothy Shaun Stamps of Danville in
connection with the stabbing.

He's charged with malicious
wounding.

Stamps was taken to the Danville
City Jail where he is being held
without bond.

GRAPHIC=Hold Blacksburg's beaver problem isn't


over yet.

In January, two beavers were
trapped and killed after causing quite
a controversy in the town.

Now, this NEW dam has appeared.

No one has formally complained to
the town about damage so officials are
just going to let the beavers... be.

Blacksburg is going to develop a
wildlife management plan later this
year to decide how to deal with future
problems.

drivers will see more construction and
more workers along Virginia's highways.

That's why V-D-O-T is recognizing
Work Zone Awareness Week.

In 2004, 14 people were killed in
work zones areas, most of those were
drivers.

But workers are also in danger.

Most of the time workers are only
separated from the traffic with orange
cones.

V-D-O-T officials also want
drivers to be cautious of work zones at
night.

If drivers get caught speeding in
a work zone, they could get a ticket of
up to 500 dollars.

But sometimes the items can go

flying, becoming the reason for an
accident.

As in this case in Texas. Two
teens were killed when the bus driver
tried to dodge cargo that had falled
off of a truck.

And this sort of thing happens
everywhere, including on the roads some
us use every day.

VDOT pointed out 581 for having a
problem...mainly because it's so well
travelled.

To avoid accidents, Virginia
requires trucks and cars, both
commerical and non commerical, to cover
anything that could escape.

But drivers beware, because
sometimes it's the smaller items, like
bolts or other metal objects that could
throw a wrench in your day.

eventually stretch more than 25 miles
from Dixie Caverns to Virginia's
Explore Park.

Yesterday, greenway advocates
kicked off a campaign they hope will
make that vision a reality.

Novozymes Biologicals has signed
on as a corporate sponsor of the
Roanoke River Greenway, committing 250-
thousand dollars, volunteer labor and
other support over the next five years.

Planners hope that Novozymes'

tag, the new Art Museum of Western
Virginia will have a lot to live up to.

from now- -in the Spring of 2008.

The Museum says it expects
240-thousand visitors the first year.

Before the Winston Link Museum opened
in 2004, Center officials predicted
150-thousand people would visit the

first year, 75-thousand each year after
that.

The reality was less than 25-thousand
the first year, about 12-thousand the
second.

The Link Museum embodies a single art
form: black and white photos of the
steam era.

So, it's not an an-encompassing art
museum.

July A federal judge said 'yes' last
March.

That after ruling the Boy Scouts
is a religious organization- making
government funding and support for the
group a violation of the separation
between church and state.

Here in Virginia that would
prohibit scouts from holding their
Jamboree at Fort A-P Hill, which has
been home to the event for 25- years.

An event that pumps millions of
dollars into the state's economy.

The lower court decision is being
challenged and governor Kaine says the
state must do all it can to keep the
tradition alive.

fans has suffered some extensive
damage.

VO-NAT As you can see in these pictures,


high winds Tuesday night knocked out
windows and blew off the roof of the
V-I-P Lounge at the Callaway USA
Speedway in Franklin County.

The damage is estimated to be
between 70 and 100 thousand dollars.

It is not known how long it will
take to repair the building, but owner
Whitey Taylor says the damage will not

affect the upcoming racing schedule.

firefighters busy.

This house in Pulaski County
caught fire around one yesterday
afternoon.

The owners smelled the smoke and
called for help.

Apparently the fire started in a
storage area under a sunroom.

People working nearby say the
wind quickly spread the flames.

Everyone made it out of the house
safely.

Damages are estimated at a
hundred thousand dollars.

The cause of the fire is being
investigated.

week.

Planning Commission recommended the

city reject a request to rezone 210
acres for a mixed use development.

Management Services Corporation
out of Charlottesville wants to build
560 apartments, single family homes and
commercial space.

Last month, Radford residents

hearing.

Most opposed the development.

City council is expected to take
a final vote in May.

city council meeting in November has
been convicted for a second time, even
though the judge offered to take the
case under advisement.

November 7 Duane Howard was removed from
council chambers after he disregarded
warnings and spoke out of turn during

the November 7th meeting.

He appealed the case to circuit
court, and yesterday his attorney
argued his actions did not constitute a
crime.
