OQ= The quick moving storms that
brought down all those trees also
packed some impressive lightning, and
strong winds which led to scattered
damage across the region.
In the Buchanan area downed trees
and power lines kept all available fire
and rescue crews out on scenes like
this one for much of the night.
Rescue personnel say the driver
of this vehicle escaped injury after a
tree limb fell on his truck off route

The storms strong winds also
brought down power lines, and in some
cases the live wires started small
brush fires.

there are about 68-hundred customers
without power tonight

At leas ten are dead, several
reports of injuries, homes and building
flattened and power lines are down.

accidental shooting that killed a State
Trooper from Bath County.

killed in February when a rifle
discharged in the back seat of a
suspects truck.

February 18 58-year-old David Ferrebee of West
Virginia was indicted on murder,
burglary, drunken driving and weapons
charges.

broke into his boss' home near
Winchester, stole the rifle, got drunk
and smoked marijuana, then decided to
return the gun.
But he wrecked his pickup.

of an overnight murder.

Authorities got the call early this
morning in a home on Wolf Creek Road
just outside of Narrows.

This Morning Authorities say 35-year-old
Curtis Morgan Horne was shot once in
the head and killed with a 38 caliber
weapon.
It happened at the home the victim
shared with the two suspects.
Police have charged Andy Ray
McKinney, seen here in the red shirt,
and 21 year old Jarret Lee Clarke, in
the blue shirt, with first degree
murder.
Investigators believe Clarke was
the triggerman.

down today for a teenager who raped,
robbed and nearly killed an elderly
woman last spring.

VO-NAT 18-year-old Shay William Ward had
pleaded guilty to the attack on the
68-year-old woman in her Leesville Road
home last May.
A judge today gave him 131 years
in prison, with 100 of that suspended.
Ward still faces sentencing for
two other burglaries in the same
neighborhood, but in Campbell County.

Apparently this goose likes Toys r
us a little too much.
It watches customers come and go
but if it feels like you might be
getting too close..watch out!
It's unclear as to what's provoking
it, but some suspect the goose has eggs
nearby.
Toys r us has roped off the animal's
perch and customers are being escorted
to their cars...The goose has actually
become somewhat of a tourist
attraction.

The 41 pound Beaver named Bailey lost
her chewing teeth when she was struck
by a car. A wildlife agent found
her and now vets are working to restore
her teeth.
Bailey won't be able to eat solid
food for awhile... so she'll have a
diet of salad and canned baby food.

of the 43 starting spots for the 7th
race of the season. Defending champ
Greg Biffle was on the pole early.
But soon after that circuit -
J.J. Yeley - the rookie turned in a lap
at 189 point 374 miles an hour to grab
the provisional pole.
But Kasey Kahne would steal the
pole and roll into victory lane with

a beating last fall during football
season and not surprisingly, the City
of Salem is making sure one of its most
used fields is improved.
Salem is getting ready to throw
down a rug of artificial turf that it's
390 feet long and 235 feet wide.

"Spartan Field" Next month construction will
begin on the current soccer and
lacrosse field that is located just to
the right of the entrance of Salem high
school.
The plan is to not only replace
the current grass with state of the art
artificial field turf, but to turn the
venue into the top soccer and lacrosse
facility on this side of the state that
will be known as Spartan Field.

The plans for the new field call
for much more than just a playing
surface. The facility will be
completely fenced in with a festive
entrance and ticket collecting area.
Permanant grand stands that will
seat 15 hundred will be in place along
with concession stands, and press box
with a phtographers deck, not to
mention plenty of parking.
The plan is for the entire
project to be finshed by next fall in
time for sandlot football and fall
soccer.

couple of years, Amherst found its main
field destroyed by heavy rains and
