Friday night as fast moving, but hard

hitting storms slammed into
southwestern Virginia.

High winds, combined with the
lightning left downed power lines and
trees throughout the viewing area,
causing accidents and in some cases
small brush fires.

Fire crews in Buchanan stayed
busy trying to keep up with both.

death after climbing onto a steep,
dew-covered roof.

Campus police say 21-year-old
Zachary Vaughan of Williamsburg was
dead when they answered a 9-1-1 call
early yesterday.

They say his death appears to

man for breaking into an auto repair
shop.

North Main Street around 6:30 Saturday
morning.

When officers arrived, they found
22-year-old William Merix still inside
the store.

Merix was arrested and charged
with burglary.

at V-C-U's Medical Center in Richmond
became the first person in the state to
get an artificial heart. The patient
was suffering from end-stage heart
failure. Doctor's say the artificial
heart will keep the patient alive while
he waits for a "human" heart donor.
V-C-U is just one of three hospitals in
the U-S certified to perform the
procedure.

Getting more people signed up to be
organ donors is the mission of program
aimed at high school and college
students.

It's called decision donate.
Lifenet brings the students in contact

with organ recipients to learn more
about the process.

One of these presentations last year
at James River High School -- impacted
a student to become a donor --months
later she was killed in a car accident.

The sound of heavy equipment
could be heard in Gallatin, TN
yesterday, as

VO NAT as residents rummaged through
what was left through portions of
Tennessee.

Tornadoes were spotted in more
than 10 Tennessee counties, with the
worst damage in Gallatin and Warren
County.

Tennessee Emergency Management
believes more than 800 homes were
damaged or destroyed in Sumner County
and more than 600 in Warren County.

VO NAT Flooding continues to be a
problem in parts of North Dakota this
weekend.

In Manvel, high water seemed to
gobble up everything in sight Saturday.

Some residents used a boat to get
around town, making the best of the
flooding situation until it improves.

City officials say floodwaters
are slowly receding, though it will be
a while before things are back to
normal.

Heavy rains combined with rapid
snowmelt caused the recent round of
flooding.

over 67-dollars-a-barrel this past
week, but Triple A says there is no
clear explanation of why some local gas
stations are charging close to 2
dollars and 70 cents a gallon.

That's actually 20 cents more
than other local gas stations and
HIGHER than the national average.

Consumers should shop
around.. not all local gas stations are
charging that much.

eleventh annual Pancake and Auction
Day.

The all you can eat event is the

Longwood Park to find these,

It was every child for his or her
self as each tried to walk home with

It's a parent's worse nightmare,
but for a Botetourt County family it
became a reality when their daughter
was diagnosed with cancer.

5-year-old Brittney Jensen died
less than five-months ago.

Now the Jensen family and their
