transportation funding from the state's

voters to vote against a constitutional
amendment that defines marriage as a
union between one man and one woman.

February 2005 Kaine says he believes marriage
IS between one man and one woman, but

fears the proposed amendment threatens
the rights of individuals to enter into
private contracts.

He also fears it would keep
employers from extending certain
benefits to unmarried couples.

The amendment, which has passed

row, will be placed on the November
ballot for voters to decide.

County where she's teaching spanish.

Students say they enjoy learning
from someone who's from a spanish
speaking country- and Zas-Fris says

the culture

Zas-Fris is one of 250 teachers
in Virginia as part of the Visiting
International Faculty Program.. .and
she's one of ten teachers who won an
award for her work in Richmond.

for some local college students.

These two Pi Kappa Phi brothers

from Roanoke College will spend most of
their summer on a bicycle.

It's part of a fundraiser called
Journey of Hope.

It's a nationwide effort to
raise awareness and money for people
with disabilities.

The ride is 45-hundred miles
and as you might imagine the students
are already busy training.

an oncoming truck, a Fincastle woman
and her two young children are lucky to
be alive.

Police say 24-year-old Heather
Bennett was driving her blue sedan
southbound on Route 220 when she pulled

in front of a tractor trailer.

The driver of the truck,
47-year-old Harold Toney of Roanoke
tried to avoid the car, but couldn't.

The crash sent the truck flying
through the air where it took out part
of a telephone pole.

Toney was released from the
hospital yesterday afternoon.

Bennett reportedly suffered
broken legs, wrists and a broken arm.

Her little girls are said to be
doing well.

Bennett faces a charge of failing
to maintain control of her vehicle.

announced the 190-thousand square foot
expansion yesterday.
