building in Vinton has displaced 20 to
30 residents.

This Morning The fire broke out around 2 o-clock
inside a building at Longwood
Apartments on 8th Street.

When firefighters arrived, they found
flames coming out of a third story
window, looping over the roof.

Fire was also in the breezeway.

There were reports that people were
trapped inside.

ASSISTANCEOF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO
GET A LADDER AND EVACUATE THOSE FOLKS
OUT A LADDER AND DOWN A WINDOW.

All of the residents did get out
unharmed, but there is a report that a
police officer was injured.

There's no word on his condition.

Heptinstall says the fire was
contained to the apartment where it
originated, but there is significant
damage to the rest of the building.

The Red Cross is working to
relocate the displaced residents.

The cause of the fire has not
been determined.

The sheriff's department says the
body of a man was found after the fire
in the 300-block of Treetop Road near
Rocky Mount.

The fire was reported around 5:30
yesterday evening.

The home was destroyed.

High Schools.

William Fleming yesterday afternoon.

They argued that council's
support for seperate stadiums was in

team.

Jennifer Stamm says she never saw this

And that sent Stamm to the Montgomery
County jail. Every friday, for the last
two weekends, she's come here to serve
out a 30 day sentence.

Stamm denied visitation to Elizabeth
and Robert Cannon. She lived with them
for a year and says they were her
child's babysitters.

one day in 2004, the Cannons filed
court papers seeking legal custody of
her child. Something the lead attorney

in the firm that represented Stamm had
never dealt with before.

early morning fire at an apartment
building in Vinton.

20 to 30 residents have been
displaced.

This Morning The fire broke out around 2 o-clock
inside a building at Longwood
Apartments on 8th Street.

When firefighters arrived, they found
flames coming out of a third story
window, looping over the roof. Fire was

also in the breezway.

building did get out unharmed, but
there is a report that a police officer
was injured. There's no word on his
condition.

Heptinstall says the fire was
contained to the apartment where it

originated, but there is significant
damage to the rest of the building.

The Red Cross is working to
relocate the displaced residents.

The cause of the fire has not
been determined.

battled a brush fire in Blue Ridge..

yesterday afternoon near some railroad
tracks off of Healing Springs Road.

No one was injured, and no homes
were damaged.

Firefighters were able to get the
more than seven acre fire under control
before six o-clock last night.

started in the same area a few years
ago.

August Speaking of money, the cost of
the new Patrick Henry High School is
going up.

Yesterday, members of the Roanoke
City School Board learned that bids on
phase two of the project are coming in
two to three million dollars above
estimates.

Rising fuel prices have
contributed to the increase, and
officials say the cost of metal and
concrete have skyrocketed since
Hurricane Katrina.

School Board members hope to have
a better handle on the increase when
they meet again later this month.

afternoon that blood work from Navarro
showed the man had a blood/alcohol

That's nearly four-times the
legal limit for driving under the
influence.

Caldwell says it's his opinion

traveling the country in an
environmentally conscious way spreading

building in Vinton has displaced 20 to
30 residents.

When firefighters arrived, they found

Deputies arrested him and charged

also charged with a felony: obtaining
money under false pretense.

Police say she told people she
was dying of cancer and had only six

crash that injured a teenager near
Evington.

driver of the Chrysler was headed north
on Evington Road around 12:30 yesterday
when she lost control.

After over-correcting to the left,
she apparently veered right again and

Witnesses found her lying dazed in

taken to Lynchburg General Hospital
with minor injuries.

She's been charged with reckless
driving.

An early morning fire at a building at
Longwood Apartments in Vinton has
displaced 20 to 30 residents.

When firefighters arrived, they found
flamescoming out of a third story
window and looping over the roof. All
of the residents in the building did
get out unharmed, but there is a report
that a police officer was injured.

Today, the Fire Marshall will
return to scene of a house fire in
Franklin County to look for the cause.

The sheriff's department says the
body of a man was found after the fire
in the house 300-block of Treetop Road
