45-year-old Neal Guill of Pittsylvania
County after receiving a call of a
robbery in progress.

Guill entered the Kwik-Shop at on

Audubon Drive just before 8 last
night, and demanded the clerk open the
register.

Guill then grabbed the register,
and fled the store.

The clerk subdued Guill until
police arrived and took the suspect
into custody.

Guill was taken to Danville
Regional Medical Center and treated for
injuries he sustained when the clerk
apprehended him.

fatal accident Easter morning in
Alleghany County.

Police say Patricia Nary of West
Virginia was traveling westbound on
Interstate-64 around 8:30, when her car
ran off the road and into the median.

The car flipped over several
times before coming to rest in the
eastbound lane.

Nary was pronounced dead at the
scene.

She was the only person in the
car.

recover after a serious accident last
week that left her with several broken
bones.

Last Monday This was the scene last Monday,
when Heather Bennett's car crossed the
center line and went into the path of
an oncoming tractor trailer on route
220.

Bennett and her two children were
flown to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

The kids walked away unscathed,
but their mom wasn't so lucky.

She's had FIVE surgeries for her

broken arm, wrist and leg.

Bennett had been in Intensive
Care, but was recently moved to a step-
down unit.

Police say she will face charges
from the accident.

According to a Survey U-S-A Poll,
more than 80 percent of the people we
surveyed have already filed their
taxes.

68-percent say they're expecting
a refund.

And 50-percent say they plan to
use a tax service to file their taxes.

About half of those surveyed said
they filed their taxes electronically
last year, while the other half filed
by paper.

The government is now finalizing a plan
that lay out how agencies should
respond if the disease is transmitted
to humans.

If that happens, people may need to
avoid contact with each other and stay
home from work and school.

The plan proposes that other countries

make U-S money if domestic locations
cannot operate, it anticipates internet
capacity will be strained when people
stay home and it lays out who will
receive initial vaccinations.

Canada has confirmed a case of mad cow
disease on a farm in British Columbia.

It s the country s 5th case since May
2003.

The 6-year-old cow was identified
through a national surveillance
program.

Officials say the case has no bearing
on the safety of Canadian beef because
no part of the animal entered the human
food or animal feed system.

If you want to lose weight.. new
research says you can not do it by diet
alone.

Scientists in Oregon studied the eating
and exercising habits of monkeys and
discovered it didn t seem to matter
what they did or didn t eat.

The thin monkeys were active.. and the
fat monkeys were not.

Researchers say the study may explain
why people who try to lose weight by

dieting alone rarely succeed.. the body
tries to compensate for calories you
are not taking in by lowering your
metabolism and activity level.

of a weekend house fire in Roanoke
County.

45-year-old Neal Guill of Pittsylvania
County after receiving a call of a
robbery in progress.

Guill entered the Kwik-Shop at
109 Audubon Drive just before 8 last
night, and demanded the clerk open the
register.

Guill then grabbed the register
and fled the store.

The clerk subdued Guill until
police arrived and took the suspect
into custody.

Guill was taken to Danville
Regional Medical Center and treated for
injuries he sustained when the clerk
apprehended him.

According to a Survey U-S-A Poll,
more than 80 percent of the people we
surveyed have already filed their
taxes.

68-percent say they're expecting
a refund.

And 50-percent say they plan to
use a tax service to file their taxes.

About half of those surveyed said
they filed their taxes electronically
last year, while the other half filed
by paper.
