authorities now say it was an argument
between the two that ended in murder-

Neighbors started calling 9-1-1
around 9:15 Monday night to report a
loud argument inside this apartment at
10-84 English Tavern Road.
When deputies got there, they found
35-year-old Donald Moon outside,
bleeding from a stab wound to his
torso.
He later died at Lynchburg General
Hospital.
Police still aren't sure exactly
what happened.

We begin in Richmond where VCU
grabbed a member of the national
champion Florida Gators to take over as
the Rams' next head basketball coach.
Anthony Grant, the right-hand man
to Florida head coach Billy Donovan for
the last 10 years was named the next
coach at VCU this afternoon.
The 40-year-old Grant replaces
Jeff Capel, who left after four seasons
last week to take the head coaching job
at Oklahoma. Grant said that with
with the foundation for success that
Capel has put in place, V-C-U is
the ideal place for him to begin his
career as a head coach.

John Torchetti is apparently on
the hot seat with the Los Angeles
Kings.
Today - the team fired general
manager Dave Taylor and some reports
out west indicate that Torchetti will

season with the Virginia Lancers before
being traded to the Carolina
Thunderbirds.

community.

2003 WVEC The annual Western Virginia
Education Classic - one of those rare
social events that really worked from a
charitable standpoint is finished in
Roanoke after six successful years.
In that span of six years - well
over 100 thousand dollars was collected
to help curb Roanoke's dropout rate.
As a result of those funds and the
efforts of TAP, nearly 500 world be
dropouts returned to school.
But last tonight the game's
founder - City Councilman Sherman Lea
said the annual event has been
cancelled for 2006 and beyond.

Francisco was jolted by a huge
earthquake.. it was one of the worst
disasters in U-S history.
The quake of 1906 left thousands
dead.. hundreds of thousands
homeless... and today.. as Drew
Levinson reports.. the Bay area is
remembering.

(END SOT) With a handful of survivors in
attendance....San Francisco marked the
100 year anniversary of the great
earthquake...that infamous day that
left the city by the bay in ruins.
Thousands turned out for the annual
wreath laying....and at precisely
5:12 in the morning there was a moment
of silence...followed by the
sounds of sirens.

Most people were sleeping when the
earthquake hit. They were jolted out
of bed and tossed into what at that
time was the worst natural disaster
this country has ever seen.

Thousands dead...28 thousand buildings
destroyed and 300,000 residents
left homeless. Only Hurricane Katrina
was worse and Mayor Gavin Newsome
had a message for victims in New
Orleans.

light and an example. Don't tell me
you can't rebuild. This city is
rebuilt, we are greater and stronger
than we ever could have imagined."
But with seven faults crisscrossing the
Bay area...experts say another
quake could be on the horizon. Many
here just hope modern day
technology and preparations will leave
San Francisco in much better
shape than 1906.
