(END SOT) << In the State of Virginia when you

think of the most talented football
prospects your mind will most always
drift towards the beach and the
Tidewater area. That part of the
Commonwealth year in and year out is
hotly contested on the recruiting trail
and is a priority for all the colleges
in-state, including Virginia Tech.
That is one of the main reasons that
Frank Beamer hired Curt Newsome.

(NEWSOME BITE:)

The Hokies hired Newsome from
James Madison which was his first
College Coaching Job and where he first
had to recruit.

One recruiting tool that helped
Newsome nab 18 in-state player for
J-M-U this past signing period was the
Dukes new Football facility the
Pleckner Center which has now been open
for almost an entire year.

But the big question on a lot of

No pictures of baby Suri just yet...for
now... her stroller will have to

do. It was delivered to the Beverly
Hills home of Tom Cruise and Katie

Holmes following the birth of their
daughter on Tuesday. She weighed in

at 7 pounds...7 ounces and is 20 inches
long. The name Suri means

princess in Hebrew and Red Rose in
Persian.

Everyone is said to be doing well, but
no details of the delivery are

available. The birth had been planned
to take place as a "silent"

procedure under the tenants of the
Church of Scientology...which is the

religion of both Cruise and Holmes.

Scientologists believe words spoken

while in pain can cause potential
problems for mother and daughter.

sot: Jess Cagel/People Magazine: Editor

at Large

(Karen Brown Standup bridge)

There's an ironic twist to this
story....Suri was born on the same day

actress Brook Shields gave birth to her
second daughter.

(track)

Shields and Cruise had a very public
feud last year after he criticized

the actress for taking anti-depressants
following the birth of her

daughter. Shields fired back...calling
Cruise's remarks a quote

"ridiculous rant."

This is the first child for the 27 year
old Holmes while Cruise has 2

kids from his marriage to Nicole
Kidman. The 43 year old Hollywood

super-star proposed to Holmes atop the
Eiffel Tower...but no wedding

date has been released.
