Angelo's family just once after he
entered the courtroom. Then he turned
his head and stared at the floor for
nearly the entire hearing.
Sonia Ramsey was shopping with her two
sons when she says she heard Angelo
yelling, "Let me go, Let me go!"
She says Startz was holding Angelo by
the hair, forcing her though the store.
Ramsey walked over to help, when she
says she saw the barrel of a gun
against Angelo's head. Ramsey says
seconds later, Startz pulled the
trigger.
Corporal Stewart Nelson took Startz
into custody the day of the shooting.
He says Startz was intoxicated and even
confessed to the murder; Telling him,

Angelo's family says they just want

GRAPHIC=Hutcherson The government has rested its case in
the federal fraud trial of Lynchburg
Mayor Carl Hutcherson.
The prosecution wrapped up its evidence
this afternoon with the testimony of
the executive director of a charity
Hutcherson established at his Trinity
United Methodist Church.
Cheryl Glass told the jury she never
knew about the 32-thousand dollar gift
the Jerry Falwell ministries made to
Hutcherson's New Life Community
Development Corporation.
Glass also said she wouldn't have
authorized Hutcherson's personal use of
the money, if she HAD known about it.

Once the money was gone, the program
died and the parsonage was boarded up

In court Monday, the government played
the tape recording of a conversation
Hutcherson had with Jerry Falwell,

The F-B-I recorded the phone call
without Falwell's knowledge.
Both sides in the case seem to be
relying on the tape to bolster their
position.
The government underscored Falwell's
repeated reminders that Hutcherson
needed documentation to justify taking
a loan from the charitable corporation.

Christopher Todd Younger walked into an
apartment

They say Younger tied one of the
women up and pointed a gun at her.
Police say the other woman hid in
a back bedroom and called 9-1-1.
Brittany Johnson lives next door
and says this crime has forced her and

Nancy Royer was just one of the Roanoke
County voters who voiced her concerns
to us in November.
Her complaint was like many the county
received - she pressed the candidate's
name on the screen and nothing
happened.
County records we reviewed show 55
voting machine complaints recorded at
polling stations. They include pressing
one candidate's name -only to have
another pop up, and machines that
would: "lock up," not reset properly or
were generally slow.
Roanoke County voter registrar Judy
Stokes says every complaint and concern
was taken seriously and the machines
were inspected.

of this black Honda was pulling into a

Road.
That's when a medical problem
apparently prevented her from hitting
the brake.
The car jumped the curb and smashed

Virginia Tech sophomore swingman Wynton
Witherspoon is planning to leave the
Hokies program after two up and down
injury filled seasons.

Last Season Spoon, who is from Atlanta,
played in 21 games this past season and
averaged six points a game despite
being hampered by a broken foot he
fractured in the preseason.
Spoon sacrificed for the team
this past season playing hurt most of

He is expected to transfer to a
school back closer to his Georgia home.

was washed out yesterday - but there
were no weather concerns today.

track not in the sky.
Denny Hamlin on the bottom of the
track slides up and whacks, Dave
Blaney, who hits Reed Sorensen who has
no choice but to slam into Joe Nemechek
who would see his streak of 40
consecutive races in which he was
running at the finish come to an end.
Things got even more interesting
in the closing laps, but the final five
clicked off without incident despite
some four wide racing.
In the end, Jimmie Johnson held
off Tony Stewart and his Hendrick
Racing teammate Brian Vickers for the
win. The finish was so tight - 16 cars
finished within one second of each
other. Jeff Burton was fourth and
Jamie McMurrray fifth.
