"the jury has found the defendant
should be sentenced to life in prison

without the possibility of release".

The jury of nine men and three women
deliverated over the course of 7

days in the end believed Moussaoui
should as the defense argued die a

slow and miserable death behind bars
like a common criminal.

(natz)

Sketches:william hennessy jr.

Jurors considered six weeks of
emotional testimony and evidence...none

more riveting than the sounds from the
cockpit voice recorder of United

Flight 93.

There was also heart-breaking testimony
from family members of 9-11

victims. Jurors were brought to tears
listening to stories of pain and

loss...that prosecutors say could have

been prevented if Moussaoui ..

arrested one month before the attacks..
revealed his knowledge of the

plot. But some family members speaking
for the defense... viewed him as

nothing more than marginal player in
al-Qaida.

And then there was the outrageous
testimony by Moussaoui

himself...sounding more like a witness
for the prosecution as he hurled

insults and mocked the grieving
families. Defense attorneys say that

was just one example of his mental
instability.

GRAPHIC=NONE Strong economic news helped investors

gain back some of the money they lost

early today.

But as Alexis Christoforous tells
us, it was not enough to push the
markets into positive territory..

they're dealing with on the other side

(END SOT) Fuming at the idea of THREE DOLLARS per

gallon?

Don't park your gas pump pain over
here.

VOX POP - 10:27 STOP MOANING, HAVE A
LOOK AT THIS - IT'S

UNBELIEVABLE...BUT WHAT CAN YOU DO -
THAT'S THE PRICE.

You won't find any sympathy.

vox pop - 15:50 I'D SAY THEY'VE GOT IT
LUCKY - THEY HAVE NOTHING TO

COMPLAIN ABOUT.

Drivers in Britain .. WHO BUY GAS BY
THE LITER shell out THE EQUIVALENT

OF ABOUT SIX DOLLARS AND 80 CENTS a
gallon.

Yep, six eighty...so say you drive an
SUV like this...you're talking

more than 100 bucks to fill 'er up.

And if you're cruising town in
something a bit more powerful...

6:21 YOUR AMERICAN DOLLARS THESE DAYS,
ABOUT 170 - 180 DOLLARS,

SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

180 DOLLARS!

ON CAMERA BRIDGE: CHARLIE
D'AGATA/LONDON (3:00)

WHY SO HIGH? TAXES. THE GOVERNMENT
SLAPS MORE THAN FOUR DOLLARS IN TAXES

ON A GALLON OF GAS. THAT'S IN ADDITION

TO THE COST OF THE GAS ITSELF,

WHICH IS RISING HERE, TOO, MEANING
BRITISH MOTORISTS FACE THE PROSPECT

OF PAYING MORE THAN SEVEN DOLLARS A
GALLON THIS SUMMER.

JOHN HALL/OIL ANALYST

1:04:33 IT COULD GO HIGHER, THERE'S NO
TELLING WHERE IT COULD STOP, BUT

AT THE MOMENT IT IS ARTIFICIALLY HIGH
AND IN MY VIEW, VERY SERIOUSLY

OVERPRICED.

(nats...people on bikes/buses)

Feeling the pinch, the British have
started changing their ways...more

people jump on the bus...or hop on a
train...and bicycle sales are

healthier than ever.

And although there would probably be
PROTESTS in the streets if gas

prices were THIS high in America...

vox pop - 12:51 WE JUST ACCEPT IT,
(CHARLIE: JUST ACCEPT IT) WE'RE

USED TO IT (LAUGHS).

here they just get on with it.
