pesticide forced the evacuation of part
of Liberty High School in Bedford
County.

Today, the smell was back ...
apparently on the clothes and shoes of
the student suspected of dumping it.

say he brought a household pesticide
from home and emptied in the "B"
building at Liberty High School.

The evacuation sparked plenty of

Appalachian Power is asking
the Virginia State Corporation
Commission for more than 198-million
dollars in customer rate increases.

If approved, the new rates would
increase prices by 25 percent.

That means a customer who pays 50
dollars a month would see their bill go
up by about 13 dollars.

The last time the S-C-C granted
Appalachian Power a rate increase was
1993.

injured this morning.

and Joseph Diman responded to a report
of a domestic dispute early this
morning.

Once they arrived, police say William
Anderson pulled a gun and shot and
killed Buro.

Police say officer Diman exchanged
gunfire with Anderson.

Anderson was killed and Diman was
injured.

The officer was flown to a Richmond
hospital where he is in stable
condition.

yesterday, it marked the end of an era
at Virginia Tech, but it was not
totally unexpected.

The Hokies are just 19-and-27
this season, and the bottom line is
