of marijuana along with firearms during
a Bedford County bust.

The Viper Task Force along with the
County Sheriff's Office executed a
search warrant at the house near
Chamblissburg, belonging to convicted
felon, Richard St. Clair, around 2:30
this afternoon.
Once inside, investigators found 50
pots of marijuana, ranging in different
maturity levels. Once fully developed,
one pot would bring in roughly 1500
dollars on the street, so there was the
potential for about 75-thousand dollars
worth of drugs.

Lynchburg mayor, Carl Hutcherson has
also left the United Methodist Church.

DID cause the death of a 14-year-old
boy.

A doctor ruled today that guards
suffocated Martin Anderson.
The autopsy found guards' hands
blocked the teen's mouth, and that his
breathing was blocked after he was
forced to inhale ammonia.
Initial autopsy results stated
the cause of death was complications of
sickle cell trait.
A security camera captured

into the death Booker T. Washington has
erased any stigma left by a doctor's
report nearly a century ago.
Washington was born a slave in
Franklin County. He taught himself to
read and write, and later became a
famed adviser to philanthropists and
presidents.
But after his death in 1915,
a doctor dismissively
wrote that Washington had died of
"racial characteristics" -- a
vague term seeming to suggest venereal
disease.
A new University of Maryland
medical review shows Washington
actually died of kidney failure brought
on by high blood pressure.
He was 59.

learned the company will NOT reconsider
it's decision to shut down their plant.

VO-NAT Governor Tim Kaine delivered the
news after meeting with Ford officials
in Michigan this morning.
The company plans to close the
plant in two years.
24- hundred people work there
assembling F- 150 pickup trucks, which
is the company's best selling brand.
Governor Kaine says deciding to
close the plant was difficult for Ford,
which has operated in Norfolk for more
than 80- years.

two-week long Arbor Day celebration at
Preston Park Elementary.
The children were each given a
Red Bud tree to take home by the
Teaching Kids to CARE program.
The national outreach program is
sponsored by the Hotel Roanoke and
Doubleetree Hotels.
This year more than 10-thousand
trees were planted by students across
the United States.

Well Vick was back in football
gear sporting the number 3 for the
first day of a 3-day mini-camp for the
Miami Dolphins. Vick is not under
contract but is being given a shot to
impress Head Coach Nick Saban after not
being drafted.
Saban described the situation as
a date, not a marriage and that the
team felt comfortable in giving the
younger brother of Michael Vick a shot.
Marcus is one of 9 rookie free agents
invited to camp by the Dolphins, a team

(END SOT) only was elected to Salem's City
Council, but he received more votes
than any other candidate.
Proving once again that high
school football is king in Salem.
In 1986, Foley was a Friday
Football Extra player of the week and
earned all-state honors as a defensive
back as he helped lead the Spartans to
the Group Three A state title game
RANDY FOLEY:
Foley who is now 36 years old,
earned a full scholarship to UVa
following his high school playing days.
He never was given the
opportunity to play as much as he had
hoped to while at Virginia, but he took
advantage of his time in
Charlottesville earning both his
bachelor's degree in Government and a
Master's in Public administration.

Foley later earned his MBA from
the Citadel and spent 10 years in the
Air Force where he attained the rank of
captain.
But he knows it was his days as a
captain of the Salem football team that
struck a cord with voters

model plane is being tested at the
Langley NASA Wind Tunnel in Hampton.
The tunnel was completed in the
early 1930's and has hosted the likes
of Charles Lindbergh and Orville
Wright.
This month researchers are
testing how the B-W-B performs during
take off and landing scenarios.
It's been dubbed the "flying
hybrid" because it's 30- percent more
fuel efficient than modern planes.
