An afternoon drug bust in Bedford
County.

Sheriff's deputies found firearms and
75-thousand dollars worth of pot.

Authorities say Richard St. Clair, a
convicted felon, was growing marijuana
in the downstairs of his home along
Meadors Spur Road in Bedford County.
The Viper Drug Task force found
temperature controlled rooms with
intricate light and water systems.
St. Clair was home when investigators
served the warrant this afternoon.
He was arrested without incident and
is now in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail
on drug charges and will face separate
charges for illegally possessing guns.

Roanoke County Police say the
backup was caused around 5:30 by a

woman.

attempted rape and aggravated sexual
battery.
Police say a woman at a home on
Fairfax Street, woke up at 5:00 this
morning and saw a man standing over
her.

Lynchburg mayor, Carl Hutcherson has
also left the United Methodist Church.

in December.
His conviction Tuesday on federal
fraud charges led him to ask Bishop

Police Officers were seriously injured
while serving in Iraq.

(ass-uh-NAY) and officer Chris Dillon
were injured when their humvee was hit
by a suicide bomber.
The two men have since been
recovering from their injuries at
Walter Reed Medical Center and are now
closer to returning to active duty with

tonight for former University of
Virginia star Ralph Sampson.
A federal grand jury has added
two more charges to the two that the
Harrisonburg native already was facing.
A new indictment, dated this
Wednesday, charges Sampson with mail
fraud and making a false statement.

VO-NAT Now, he was supposed to go to
trial on May 16th on previous charges
of perjury and lying about his
financial situation to a federal court
in Georgia in order to obtain
court-appointed counsel.
Instead he'll now be arraigned on
the 16th on the new counts.
Sampson already has pleaded
guilty in federal court in Richmond to
charges of failing to pay court-ordered
child support for two children who have
different mothers.

Earlier This Week Harvick agreed to a new contract
with Richard Childress Racing to remain
as the driver of the 29 car through the
2-thousand and 9 season. Harvick has
been driving on the cup circuit for
R-C-R since the death of Dale

victories including 1 this season and
70 top 10 finishes.
It had been speculated that
Harvick would leave to join Toyota when

(END SOT) only was elected to Salem's City
Council, but he received more votes
than any other candidate.
Proving once again that high
school football is king in Salem.
In 1986, Foley was a Friday
Football Extra player of the week and
earned all-state honors as a defensive
back as he helped lead the Spartans to
the Group Three A state title game

Foley who is now 36 years old,
earned a full scholarship to UVa
following his high school playing days.
He never was given the
opportunity to play as much as he had
hoped to while at Virginia, but he took
advantage of his time in
Charlottesville earning both his
bachelor's degree in Government and a
Master's in Public administration.

Foley later earned his MBA from
the Citadel and spent 10 years in the
Air Force where he attained the rank of
captain.
But he knows it was his days as a
captain of the Salem football team that
struck a cord with voters
