Emotions are high as parents deal with
the news their kids were arrested over
the weekend.

Two Cave Spring Senior, 18-year-old
Sean McGhee........ 18-year-old Tyler
Moore Junior, known by friends as Moses
and a 17-year old girl from Hidden
Valley High School allegedly broke into
a supply closet and took cans of
paint....

Police say early Sunday morning, the
teens managed to get onto the roof of
the Doubletree Metropolitan Hotel and
started tossing those cans of
paint.....

The hotel is directly across from the
NYPD's 17th precinct..One of the cans
struck a patrolman in the eye, in
addition two police cars were
hit...three police scooters damaged and
an officer's personal vehicle also
struck.

We did talk to some students at Cave
Spring who are friends with the boys
and say they are shocked and don't
believe they would intentionally try to
hurt anybody.

reached an agreement on amendments to
Virginia's *current* two- year budget.

The House and Senate will meet to
vote on the deal later this week.

However, there's still NO
compromise on the NEW state budget,
which is supposed to take effect July
first.

So what happens if lawmakers
can't reach a deal by then?

As Richmond Bureau Chief Jennifer

fires in Florida has consumed hundreds
of acres and caused troopers to close

off nearby sections of the interstate.

I-75 because the heavy smoke is

safe and well after being trapped
underground for nearly two weeks

VO-NAT 37-year-old Brant Webb and

34-year-old Todd Russell - who had been
lodged in a steel cage beneath tons of
fallen rocks - were removed from the
cage through an escape tunnel.

Webb and Russell suffered little
more than scratches when a magnitude
2.1 earthquake on April 25 caused a
rockfall that trapped them in the
safety cage they were working in almost
3000 feet underground.

The men say that they survived
for five days on a single cereal bar,
and by licking water seeping through
the rocks around them.

Last Season Shaine Miles, who has been an :00 assistant for the Thundering Herd for

the past three years resigned his post
today as tight ends coach.

Miles was considered by most to
be a rising star in the coaching
business, but he says once his son
Brock was born last December - the time
away from home to coach and recruit got
to be an uneven tradeoff.

Miles and his wife Vanessa, who
also is a Salem native, will still be
close to Huntington - they are opening
a Chick-Fil-A restaurant in Ashland,
Kentucky - which is just a few miles
from Marshall.

Miles was an all-star linebacker
at Salem his senior season at 1992 and
later lettered four straight years at
Virginia Tech - playing on four
consecutive bowl teams for Frank
Beamer.

He also is the son of Billy Miles
who resigned earlier this year as
Franklin County's head coach.
