to five to two to completely
restructure the magnet school program.

Two of them, the ones at Forest
Park and Lincoln Terrace will be
eliminated next year.

The aviation program will then
be phased out in two years.

Seven other schools will no
longer be called magnet schools. They
are now specialty schools.

Essentially that redesigns them
to give those schools more autonomy.

prank, but throwing cans of paint off a

twenty story building in New York City
has turned into criminal charges for
three teens.

schools....Classmates told News Seven
they're surprised about the news that
Cave Spring seniors Tyler Moses Moore
and Sean McGhee, and Hidden Valley
Junior Brittany Goldberg allegedgly
threw the cans while on a field trip to
New York.

The cans injured a police
officer and damaged police vehicles.

While many of the students admit
it could have turned deadly, they're
not too sure about the punishment.

News 7 that nine adults chaperoned the
37 students who went to New York.

number of chaperones on a school field
trip.

Roanoke County School Board
Chairman, Mike Stovall says the board
is looking into where the chaperones
were.. and how the students could have
gotten to the roof.


For now, all three students are
suspended from school.

And now face expulsion hearings
before the school board and
superintendent.

not only affect how you travel this
summer but also what you travel on.

asphalt, which is also a petroleum
product, has gone up by as much as
35-percent.

As a result, cities like
Martinsville say they now have to cut
back their street paving by about a
third.

Officials say primary roads
automatically get top priority.

They say they'll then consider
age, condition and location when it
comes to residential roads.

comments online about the economically
troubled Martinsville area says he has
been suspended for ten days without

pay.

His remarks sparked anger among
some Southside area leaders and
prompted one legislator to call for his
resignation.

Will Vehrs (veers) works for the
Virginia Department of Business
Assistance, an economic development
agency.

He told the Associated Press that
he was suspended after he contributed
to a contest on a blog in which posters
write their own captions for various
photos.

Vehrs has apologized
repeatedly. But Delegate Ward Armstrong
of Henry County is asking that Vehrs
leave his job.

But in many rural areas,
broadband or DSL is a luxury that just
isn't available.

which is building a wireless broadband
network in places larger providers have
overlooked.

bring broadband speed to many rural

Dove's target date to provide
wireless broadband service to parts
Carroll and Grayson Counties is June
first.


The service area will increase
throughout the summer months.

Also, since we started promoting
this story we have gotten several calls
and emails from people in other rural
communities in the New River Valley and
the Roanoke Valley that are facing this
same problem.

Christiansburg murder trial.

March 2005 Judge Ray Grubbs postponed the :00 first- degree murder trial of 18 year
old Zachary Linkous, after ruling a
defense expert on shootings could NOT
testify.

Linkous is accused of shooting 15
year old Edward Bertrand in the
stomach.

Linkous claims the shooting was
accidental.

His attorneys told the judge
yesterday they needed time to find a
NEW expert, because today's ruling
destroyed their defense.

A new trial date will be set next
month.

at least 25- years behind bars after
investigators found more than 42-
hundred pornographic images of children
on his computer.

Williams, Junior pleaded guilty to
eight-felonies, including several
charges involving a seven-year-old
girl.

According to the Commonwealth's
Attorney - the abuse took place last
summer.
