The former Hokie finally has an

Dolphins' Mini-Camp - May 5th Vick spent the first weekend in
May at an invitation only mini-camp
tryout with the team, but was deemed as
being out of his league by most
reports.
However tonight, head coach Nick
Saban says the Dolphins believe Vick is
worth the risk, and that the team did
an enormous amount of research before
deciding to sign him.
Vick's off the field problems
made him undraftable last month, but
his college coach still bellieves in
Marcus and that he can be a hit in the
NFL.

salary in the NFL is $235,000 this

If he ends up on the Dolphins'
practice squad, his salary would be
about $90,000.

OQ=...ANOTHER SEASON." << On February 25th of 2005 - hockey
(END SOT) fans were thrilled that the sport was
back in Roanoke after taking a year off
- but deep down many booster club
members weren't sure if Richard
Brosall, the UHL Commissoner and the
Dixon's Ken and Kristen the teams
owners were the right players for the
Star City.
On August 6th of 2005, things
were all postive as the Vipers held an
open house at the Civic Center with
curious fans anxious for the season to
begin.
KEN DIXON
But that great hockey team never
materialized. Less than a month after
the open house head coach and director
of hockey operations Rick Adduno
suddenly resigned leaving the team
without a coach just a month before the
start of training camp.
Jim Wiley was hired on September
15th - and he did an amazing job of
assembling a roster in just three weeks
time.
But the Vipers were overmatched,
and injuries in the first month of the
season did little to help their cause.
Attendance was nowhere near the 3000
fan average the owners had hoped for,
and by the start of the new year - the
writing was already on the wall - as
far as the team's future.
Still Kristen Dixon told News 7
Sports on January 18th - that reports
out of fellow UHL city Port Huron that
Roanoke was folding were false.
KRISTEN DIXON
But the rumors and reports turned
out to be true. Wiley became a
scapegoat for the lack of success, he
was fired on February 6th and replaced
by Daniel Berthiuaume, but even the
Bandit couldn't produce a miracle.
The team with the worst
attendance in the UHL, the team that
never produced a game program for its
fans and could only produce 17 wins
during a 76 game season in the end -
simply couldn't afford to carry on in
Roanoke another season.
