member of the Duke University Lacrosse
team indicted for allegedly raping and
beating a woman two months ago-David
Evans turned himself in.

The 23-year-old senior and team captain
was indicted on charges of first-degree
forcible rape, sexual offense and
kidnapping.

AND WILL BE PROVEN WRONG"
The charges stem from a team party held
at this off-campus house where Evans
lived.
A 27-year-old black woman and student
at North Carolina Central University
told police Evans and two other white
players assaulted her there as she
performed as an exotic dancer.

Defense lawyers point to two DNA tests
that found no conclusive connection,
but the prosecutor maintains there is a
partial match with a player on one of
her fake fingernails.
Evan's attorney says not only is the
woman lying but the prosecutor is
politically motivated.

Three states have declared
emergencies...the National Guard has
been
called into action...hundreds of roads
are under water and the soaking
rains flooding New England still have
not stopped.

From the mountains of Maine to the
suburbs of Boston...residents have
been driven from their homes by the
rising floodwaters. For some it's
the worst flooding in 70 years.

"It's been wet, it's been cold, people
are hungry."
No mandatory evacuations have been
ordered but emergency shelters have
opened their doors for displaced
residents. Many of those centers are
set up in the dozens of schools that
have cancelled classes due to the
wet weather.
Miller On-Camera Bridge: This is the
fourth straight day of rain here in
New England. Officials fear that totals
could top 15 inches in some
areas, triggering even more flooding
from rivers and reservoirs that
simply cannot handle that much water.
Sen. John Kerry has toured some of the
flooded areas and Massachusetts
Governor Mitt Romney says bridges in
his state are being closed due to
the overwhelming water.

Roanoke Valley Vipers are finished in
the Star City after just one season.
Team owner Kristen Dixon was
expected to be in town today to inform
Civic Center personel of her decision.
However, she did not make it into
the Star City today - instead

2005-2006 Season the team issued a press release
:00 about five minutes ago.
The Vipers were introduced as a
UHL franchise on February 25th of 2005.
At the time the team inked a three
year contract with the Roanoke Civic
Center saying it needed to average 3000
fans a night to make it a success.
Instead, attendance was only half
of that - a league worst in the United
Hockey League.
Currently the team owners owe the
Civic Center $29 thousand from the
recently completed season according to
Mini Boyd - the Civic Center director.

39 per cent say they approve, 58 per
cent disapprove.
The approval rating in Virginia is UP 2
per cent from one month ago.

May 2 We learned today that ABC has picked up
the series that stars Boones Mill
native Josh Grisetti- along with Mick
Jagger.
Grisetti tells News 7 that
producers called him to confirm he'd be
at press parties in New York and L-A
later this week, and that ABC has
ordered the show for the fall line-up.
The series is about a group of
young people who plot to rob Jagger.
