SO I THINK THAT WE NEED A RESOLUTION
FOR THE VICTORY STADIUM ISSUE AS MUCH
SO THAT WE CAN GET ON TO OTHER THINGS
THAT ARE PROBABLY MORE IMPORTANT.

RUN:17 (END SOT)

OQ= As a result of the recent city

council elections, it appears as though
the bricks will be plucked, and the
bleachers torn from the stands.

But residents aren't counting on
anything.

They know a decision about
Victory Stadium is hard to come by.

COMING. WHETHER OR NOT IT HAPPENS
REMAINS TO BE SEEN BUT IM GLAD THAT IT

Even after the vote and even IF
demolition is approved, Victory Stadium
will remain an issue as Roanoke decides
what should replace the fallen stadium.

There are new concerns for people who
took the once-popular painkiller Vioxx.

(vo)

Several leading cardiologists say a
follow-up study shows patients who took
the drug and then stopped remain at a
high risk for heart attacks or strokes.

The drug-maker, Merck disputes this
claim.. saying its interpretation of

the same study shows the drug posed no
statistically significant risk.

Twenty million Americans took Vioxx
from 1999 to 2004, when Merck pulled it
from the market

(wipevo)

Another drug is under added scrutiny..
the anti-depressant Paxil.

In clinical studies involving young
adults, those taking Paxil were more
likely to report suicidal behavior than
others who got a placebo.

The FDA and Paxil s maker are adding
that suicide risk warning to the drug s
package inserts.

Paxil is not approved for patients
younger than 18.

(wipevo)

And finally, U-S health officials have
now confirmed more than 120 cases of a
potentially-blinding eye infection that
may be related to contact lens use.

The outbreak of the fungal infection
prompted eye care company Bausch and
Lomb to recall its Renu with
Moisture-Loc contact lens solution.

The CDC says it s too early to say
whether a single product is responsible
for the outbreak.

OQ=Feedback GRX & music < (END SOT) about the Roanoke County students who

threw paint cans off of a hotel roof in
New York, a couple of viewers
complained about excessive coverage.
One of them (Melissa
Hutcherson/Richmond) was a relative of
one of the adult teens involved.

"I find the media has done quite a slam
job on Moses Moore. Weren't there three
students involved in this incident? How
is it that the only one being in the
spotlight is him? The media has to
realize that we are supposed to help
our children, not humiliate them. Yes,
what these children did was wrong and
yes the judicial system and their
parents will take the appropriate
actions. But it really must be a slow
news day when this is the lead story
every time you turn on the
television...I am very disappointed in
the way my hometown station has
persecuted my nephew and I know that
most of the people that still live
there are too!"

Another subject that brought a
lot of comment was the story on lack of

broadband internet service in many
rural areas. A viewer from Lynchburg
(Linda Coderre) wrote:

"I have a friend in Amherst who can't
get high speed internet access, because
Verizon doesn't have the whatever it is
they need and they told her that they
have no idea as to when they could have
it. So she has to put up with AOL
dial-up, when she could be getting
Verizon DSL cheaper than dial-up.
Welcome to 2006."

However you want to do it...by
U.S. mail, fax or email...your comments
on our news coverage and issues in the
