teen, shot and killed two years ago
next month says waiting for justice has
been frustrating.

19 year old Zach Linkous is
charged with first degree murder.
On Monday we talked with his
mother.
She says the shooting was an
accident and that all the courtroom
delays have been emotionally and

forward to visiting his brother in
Florida, when he was shot once in the
stomach in the garage of this home.

with first degree murder. His family
says the two were friends and the
shooting was an accident, but
Bertrand's family says when the
evidence is presented, it will paint a
much different picture.
And they cringe when they hear the
Linkous family ask for donations to pay

Monday was an accident.

26-year-old William Daniel Yeatts
worked at the Corner Cupboard store on
Wooding Avenue.
Around 5:30 Monday night, police
say Yeatts apparently dropped his gun,
and it discharged when it hit the
floor.
Yeatts was struck in the chest and
died later at a Danville hospital.
Police say Yeatts and other store
employees kept guns on hand for
protection.

about how a Halifax woman was
electrocuted on railroad property in
Martinsville last week.
City police say Shelby and James
Reagan were stealing copper wire and
selling it. One of them would climb a
utility pole and cut the wire,
investigators say, while the other
would roll it up.
Lieutenant G-C Dove of the
Martinsville P-D says he believes
"Shelby Reagan may have got hold of a
live wire," and that's how she died.
Dove says the line carries 480
volts of electricity.
JAMES Reagan has been charged with
removing a power line, attempted grand
larceny and trespassing on railroad
property.

another dog and its owner Monday night.

Lisa Jones and her three-year-old
Lhasa Apso had just finished taking a
walk, when her neighbor's pit bulls
attacked her dog, then bit her as she

Jones' dog had to be put down.
62-year-old Emmitt Lee is charged
with three counts of allowing dogs to
run at large and three counts of having
an unlicensed dog.

the memory of Kevin Manion.
The 27- year- old trooper was
killed in February when a rifle went
off in the back seat of a suspect's
truck.
Today's service was emotional for
members of his family who say they're

was honored.

men and women killed on the job since
1928.

Lacrosse team continued play in the N-C
Double "A" tournament. The Maroons
went on the road to face Gettysburg
this afternoon and Bill Pilat's club
came out with a win over the number 2
seed. 13 to 12 the Final Score.
Roanoke now advances to the National
Semi-finals where they will have to
play Salisbury the number 1 seed, the
defending national Champions and the
team that knocked the Maroons out last
year tournament in the Semi's.

Plantation Pro Chip Sullivan has played
in plenty of big golf tournaments,
including the PGA Championship as well
as countless other Tour events. But
perhaps none is bigger than the one he
is about to embark on in a tropical
paradise. Travis Wells explains from
Botetourt County.

upcoming PGA Club Professional
Championship at the end of June in New

Those endeavors will take a
backseat next week though, because
Sullivan is one of 100 golfers selected
to play in the Trump Million Dollar
Invitational, a 54 hole stroke play
event in which the top 10 advance to a
9 hole shootout for one million
dollars. The event will take place at
the Donald's Raffles Resort on Canouan
Island in the heart of the Grenadines
in the Eastern Caribbean, and will be
televised by ESPN.
CHIP SULLIVAN/WILL COMPETE IN TRUMP
INVITATIONAL:
The tournament won't air until the
first week in July, so if Chip is
fortunate enough to win the cool
million, he'll have to keep quiet for
about the next 6 weeks.
CHIP:
Sullivan leaves on Saturday and

called, "Backyard Treasurers - Visit,

Through a grant, area arts and
cultural organizations are promoting
things to do within a 100-mile radius.
