(Arriving in Cannes or movie or

Whatever the arguments over the
religious merits of the movie, the
producers have another problem. The
critics don't like it very much.
Advance screenings in Cannes have
produced tepid reviews... not

suspenseful, not romantic, not fun --
said one.

But the controversy over the movie has
generated the kind of publicity money
can't buy. Like the book, the film is
based on the theory that Christ
fathered a child with Mary Magdelene
and that the conservative Catholic sect
Opus Dei has been behind the coverup.

Oddly, all parties to the argument now
embrace it as a way of either selling
tickets or putting their viewpoint
across.

Hokies vs 49ers The top number on the scoreboard
was how many wins Hartman racked up in
his career.

Before the game, the coach was
honored by the school. Virginia Tech
gave him a 12- day all expenses paid
trip for him and his wife Ellen to the
College World Series in Omaha,
Nebraska.

There will also be a banquet to
honor Hartman the Friday Night before

the Cinicinnati-Virginia Tech Football
Game this fall.

In the Top of the First Coach
Hartman was busy.

He made a trip to the mound to
talk to his pitcher.

You could say he's still got
some fire after 47 seasons, as he
argued a call.

The Hokies would get on the board
first in the second, as Billy Marn
would drive one up the middle.

2 runs would come into score.

But Charlotte would come back to
tie in the top of the third.

1 run would *CG final Charlotte score on the triple by Spencer Steedly 14 to right center field.
Virginia Tech Mike Ambrose touches the plate, and 3 the 49ers go on to win 14 to 3 on Coach
Hartman's final Home Game.

But he still has 3 regular
season games left this weekend on the
road against Virginia.
