GRAPHIC=Fatal Shooting Police are still searching for

whoever is responsible for a deadly
shooting yesterday morning in Roanoke.

And until an arrest is made, it
seems the neighborhood is staying quiet
about what happened.

The 1600 block of Melrose Avenue
is quiet now, but Saturday morning the

street was full of police
investigators, and onlookers after an
early morning shooting at this house.

One person was killed, and seven
others injured around three in the
morning after someone started shooting
during a crowded party.

22-year-old Timothy Jerome
Thompson died on the front porch.

While police look for the
shooter, the family of TJ Thompson is
searching for answers, and finding them
hard to come by.

LIKELY HIT BY STRAY GUNFIRE.

They say the 22-year-old's duplex
had been broken into and shot at within
the last month. But, the family had
hoped those problems were behind him.

uncommon in the area, and they wouldn't
be surprised to see more shootings as
the summer progresses.

That's why residents say the
neighborhood needs to find solutions to
curb the violence, before anymore lives
are lost.

shooting victim remains hospitalized.
And those close to the victims say they

what caused the deaths of five miners
in yesterday's explosion at a mine in
Kentucky.

The reports say the other two men
were probably closer to the blast and

Police in the Netherlands are
holding a suspect in the kidnapping and
killing of the Alabama teen.

been identified, is suspected

of assisting in Holloway's murder.

Holloway vanished last May during
a graduation trip to Aruba with
classmates.

suspect says he will fight extradition
to Aruba.

The Rainbow Forest Lake
Association has received a permit to
operate for the 2006 season -meaning
the lake will be full and everything's
on track for the summer.

But, the future status of the
lake is still up in the air.

For more than a year - the
community has been battling to keep
afloat after a state agency ordered the
group to rebuild its dam or drain the
lake.

Since that time, the state has
passed legislation to allow
low-interest loans to lakes such as
Rainbow Forest, but funding has not
been appropriated.

surgery on the injured leg today in

which required extra holes to settle.

18 year old girls division, but the
Fullerton, California native shot a 78
on the third round was out of the hunt
as things were winding down.

Her struggles created a great
opportunity for UVA bound Whitney
Newhauser, a senior at Monticello high
school.

A Virginian hasn't won the girls
division in nearly 15 years, and all
Neuhauser had to do was par one of the
final two holes to win.

But her tee to green game put her
in a couple bad spots on the final two
holes and she ended up bogeying the
final two.

That opened the door for Isabelle
Lendl who began the day six shots out
of the lead, and wasn't in the final
grouping with Neuhauser.

Isabelle's final round of 68 was
good enough to get her into a sudden
death playoff. And when Newhauser
again found herself in the rough - The
middle daughter of tennis great Ivan
Lendl capitalized parring the first
playoff hole for the win, while
Neuhauser bogeyed her third straight.
